An Isothermal Compression

Isothermal compression is a thermodynamic process in which a gas is compressed while its temperature remains constant. This means that the heat energy transferred to or from the gas during compression is sufficient to keep its temperature constant. This process typically occurs slowly and reversibly, maintaining equilibrium throughout. In practical terms, this often involves cooling the gas as it is compressed to counteract the increase in pressure and maintain a constant temperature.
