Authorities announced on Wednesday that a U.S. military helicopter, which had gone missing while transporting five Marines from Nevada to California, has been located.

Search and rescue operations were underway in the mountainous region of Southern California, where snow and rain added to the challenges.

The CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter was discovered east of San Diego in Pine Valley, California, at 9:08 a.m., a few hours after the commencement of search efforts, as reported by the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing on social media.

Various agencies, including federal authorities, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, and the Civil Air Patrol, collaborated in the search, CBS News reported.
