A fatal incident occurred in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a driver and injuries to five others, including two children, after a car crashed into a hospital, officials confirmed.

The initially reported count of 10 injured was revised during an evening news conference, with a child and an adult listed in critical condition among the actual injuries.

The driver of the sedan, which collided with the emergency room area of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, was extracted from the wreckage, received CPR, but unfortunately succumbed to injuries, according to officials.

Injured survivors, including the two children, were situated in the hospital’s emergency room lobby, noted Dr. Peter DeYoung, the facility’s chief medical officer. Emergency room doctors promptly responded, providing care to the injured, while acknowledging the tragedy of the loss of life.

The injured children and an adult were transported to Dell Children’s Medical Center, as reported earlier by Austin-Travis County EMS, NBC News reported.
