Adequate levels of these B vitamins ensure proper dopamine production and function, which is crucial for mood regulation, cognitive function, and overall brain health. Tyrosine is a precursor to dopamine, meaning it is a building block used by the body to produce dopamine. When tyrosine is consumed, it can cross the blood-brain barrier and be converted into L-dopa, which is then further metabolized into dopamine. This process is facilitated by enzymes in the brain, primarily tyrosine hydroxylase.
