Many now claim that American ideas were flawed from the start, and that liberalism and liberty are not to be pursued. But what if the term liberty has been redefined, and new ideas inserted themselves in place of what the founding fathers envisioned.

Today, the meaning of the term liberalism has become clouded. For some, it may communicate a philosophy of freedom from traditional or conservative values. Yet, for others, it describes a destructive ideology. American liberalism during the time of the founding fathers may have been very different to what we know today as liberalism. If liberalism is failing the West, is this a flaw in the original American idea, or is today’s liberalism something entirely different?
