Local media reports indicate that a tragic incident occurred in Gaza City early Thursday, resulting in at least 70 fatalities and 280 injuries.

Palestinians reportedly rushed toward trucks carrying humanitarian aid and faced gunfire.

The precise details surrounding the deaths are still uncertain.

Some reports suggest that Israeli troops fired on the crowd as they approached the trucks, while the Israeli military contends that most casualties resulted from individuals being trampled in the chaotic situation.

“Early this morning, during the entry of humanitarian aid trucks into the northern Gaza Strip, Gazan residents surrounded the trucks, and looted the supplies being delivered,” Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement. “During the incident, dozens of Gazans were injured as a result of pushing and trampling. The incident is under review.”

The IDF has indicated that less than 10 civilians sustained injuries due to Israeli forces firing during the humanitarian aid delivery, emphasizing that the majority of deaths and injuries resulted from the ensuing stampede, Fox News reported.
