Enkei the pug is approaching his second birthday. Watch this adorable throwback to when he was 8 weeks old and in his first week at is forever home. Enkei was a very playful puppy with a lot of energy, even though he was very petite. We bought the smallest 'Kong' squeak balls we could find and gave a game of fetch a bash. At first, Enkei seemed very keen to chase the ball and try retrieve it, but it becomes apparent that for some dogs, fetch just doesn't come as a natural instinct. Enkei chases the ball, and even has a little stalk and pounce on it.
As Enkei grew a little bit older, he decided fetch wasn't for him. He would occassionaly chase the ball, however he would have a roll about and play with it and never ever bring it back. I think for Enkei, playing with stuffed toys was more his idea of fun! He will leave the ball fetching for someone else. Enkei is a real people pleaser, same as every other dog. And will do anything to please his owners and make them happy. Enkei would always run around like mad and check back on us to make sure we were laughing and encouraging him to continue having fun. When Enkei turned 10 months old, we decided that he needed a companion. Enkei was always quite shy around new dogs and quickly grew out of playing and running around. As soon as we introduced Sanka, that all changed. And Enkei quickly found his energy and puppy antics again, it was an amazing change in him and Sanka definitely brought out the best in him. Although, Sanka definitely is the master of fetching in this duo, Enkei hasn't got a look in at a ball nowadays!
