He painted his shipping container using NASA-grade paint. Watch the outcome.
I use a unique space product in Eastwood Paint Encapsulation to see if I can both preserve the metal and manage thermal loads on the surface.
Testing finds that shadows have a much larger impact on individual readings; however, it is possible that the spheres lower the overall average temperature change.
Hi-Tech ThermaCels, found here at https://hytechsales.com/, is the product I used. I will say my testing is not definitive. Notably, the ceramic additive is not 'invisible' in the paint and changed the sheen and texture of my shipping container paint project.
While the paint job gives me the rugged 'caste iron' look and feel, the high-tech portion of it is not readily apparent. I didn't see much temperature protection from the Texas sun.
Since the product is inexpensive for my purposes, I am likely to try it again with a color other than matte black. I have a 5-gallon bucket of grey on hand for general house improvement.
