During the Cold War, the CIA recruited high-ranking Nazis as agents for its operations against leftists and communists around the world. They infiltrated the highest levels of the German government and used Nazi treasure to fund these operations. "They tortured and killed on an unimaginable scale, yet survived the Second World War: many Nazi war criminals fled from Allied troops, many slipped away to new lives in South America. But the truth is that the Allies were less interested in morality and justice than in stopping the advance of communism, as represented by the Soviet Union.

The CIA recruited many former Nazis and Italian fascists as agents for its worldwide operations against communism. Part of its funding came from the officially lost gold of the "Third Reich". But how far did the collaboration between the CIA and the Nazi butchers really go? In the new documentary "Nazis in the CIA", Florian Hartung and Dirk Pohlmann (Israel and the Bomb) have reconstructed a hitherto unknown dimension of the collaboration between Nazis and the CIA during the Cold War.

Based on recently declassified documents, the film reveals for the first time a perfidious worldwide network that reaches deep into the power structures of the Federal Republic of Germany. High-ranking statesmen, journalists and historians lend their authority to the investigators' mission.
