This thoughtful, well-researched work of science comes directly from an astute observer. The author takes the time to comprehend their observations, recording their thoughts and revisiting them to grasp the deeper meaning of being a dedicated scientist.

Ah, but that's the thing. The word religion basically means "reverence for a higher power." It never said anything about acting as if you _are_ the higher power. That's what makes the hypocrites so annoying. Rather than focusing on humble study of the unknown (what's called science) they put on a show claiming that they are a magic gateway to the unknown, and if everyone does the same ritual and listens to that same old repeated, worn-out stories every weekend, the magicians will show them a little piece of it.

It's the same exact power of suggestion used by snake-oil salesmen, except snake oil actually might have some healing qualities. Group ritual is very powerful, and so is self-hypnosis. But it gets to feel abusive.when it's obvious that that's what they're doing and they're unwilling to acknowledge it.

There wouldn't.be this divide between.sciemce and religion if it weren't for the ignoramuses who refuse to humble themselves and learn the science. So much of modern science stems directly from folks who were religiously motivated, whether in the form of discovery like Gregor Mendal, or keeping traditions alive during hard times, like the beer brewing of Friar Tuck-like characters. But at a certain point the arrogant scientists thought they knew enough about the unknown and the arrogant religious folks figured they didn't need to learn it, and a divide was created. But keep in mind this all happen after Einstein. He left room for God in his theories, and even his faith was questioned when Bohr introduced quantum entanglement to him.

So my very long-winded point is, religion is about having an open mind to possibilities. It's a thought experiment. Anyone who tries to tell you not to think in the name of religion is doing the opposite of trying to insert God. But you know how stubborn old men are: they get so stuck in their ways pushing onwards they often forget where they were going, and need to have their course corrected by younger generations.
