Amazing Winter Wonderland Time Lapsed Walk To Pericnik Waterfall

This is a beautiful wintry time lapsed walk, navigating up the steep footpath through the deep, crisp, unspoiled snow to reach the Slovenian waterfall Slap Peričnik. This winter wonderland proves a little challenging at times, but well worth the reward of the thunderous fall and fabulous falling icicles.
Slap Peričnik is a two-stepped waterfall within the glacial Vrata Valley, Triglav National Park, Slovenia. In winter months both waterfalls freeze completely and the water droplets sprayed against the rock face form incredible, glacier blue stalactites and stalagmites.
The Lower fall (Spodnji Peričnik) is a 52 meter single drop waterfall which culminates in a crashing beat against the rocks below (known locally as “prati”). The most easily seen of the two waterfalls, it can easily be viewed from the roadside. Without the wintery conditions, this usually 10-15 minute trek up a relatively safe trail will bring you out in front of the fall. Once there you can normally walk freely behind the powerful water flow although, probably less advisable after snowfall and during the melt when icicles begin falling.
The Upper fall (Zgornji Peričnik) is significantly smaller at 16 meters high and can be reached via a slightly tougher trail leading from the lower fall.
