A bus transporting University of South Carolina students, members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and their guests, to an event in New Orleans, suffered a blowout and crashed into a concrete barrier in Mississippi.

Eleven people were injured, with the driver and a student critically wounded and airlifted to hospitals.

The bus driver, Tina Wilson, exhibited remarkable strength in controlling the vehicle after the blowout, preventing a potentially more catastrophic outcome.

Another student, Paul Clune, assisted in steering the bus to a stop. University officials arranged alternate travel for uninjured students and offered support services for those affected, the New York Post has reported.
