Welsh rep podcast 150 with Rahul SA : History of South Africa's Apartheid
I spoke with Rahul SA about South Africa's Freedom Day, which is observed every April 27th. On this day each year, they commemorate their country's pivotal first democratic election in 1994, which marked the official end of the racial segregation and oppression of apartheid. We discussed what life was like in apartheid South Africa, how apartheid came about, the horrors that black South Africans endured under the apartheid system, and their struggle for freedom. We also delved into the origins of apartheid in South Africa and talked about the fascist HNP ('Reunited National Party'), which held power in South Africa's political system from 1948 to 1994, and the atrocities committed against South African citizens and the racist policies implemented during the apartheid era. Rahul also shared his experiences of living in apartheid South Africa. Furthermore, we discussed his thoughts on the future of South Africa in the new global landscape, and we touched upon the situation in Israel and Palestine.
