🇭🇺OMEGA is a rock band from Hungary that was founded in 1962. Three of the five musicians in the last line-up played together from 1971 to 2020.

In 1962, the band Omega emerged from two student bands from different schools in Budapest and had their first official performance. The name "Omega" was given to them by the organizer.[1] After a few line-up changes, the band released their first single in 1966 - a cover version of Paint It Black. Further singles followed, all with songs from Western countries.

In 1968, the band reached its core line-up for the first three to four LPs:

László Benkő (* June 12, 1943; † November 18, 2020) (founding member) - trumpet, flute, vocals
János Kóbor (* May 17, 1943; † December 6, 2021) (founding member) - vocals
Gábor Presser (* May 27, 1948) - keyboard, vocals
Tamás Mihály (* September 24, 1947; † November 21, 2020) - Bass
György Molnár (* September 12, 1949) - guitar
József Laux (* May 8, 1943; † August 6, 2016) (founding member) - drums, percussion
The lyrics were written by the student and József Laux's later wife Anna Adamis. The compositions were mainly by Gábor Presser.
