Training horses always involves some risk of injury (or even death) to the horse, the trainer, any spectators, equipment used, etc. - this risk is totally your own as you will be making your own judgements on what to do. As with any suggestions on any subject you must weigh them out for yourself and proceed accordingly - at your own risk.

Reign, the 3 yr old TWH, was first acclimated to the flag being near her, flapping in the wind above her, and eventually actually touching her body, neck and head while saddled but in hand (me on the ground.) Then while in hand I carried the flag as a lead her around our driveway turn around loop - leading her first from the near side (left) and then next from the off side (right). I then set the flag against the picket fence - so it would not blow over - and also so after mounting I could side pass over and pick up the flag. I then carried the flag around without putting it in the flag carrier until Reign proved she was going to be civil - then set it back against picket fence. We then picked it back up and this time put it in the flag carrier attached to my right stirrup and walked around more including what was captured on video which included side passing both directions carrying the USA flag on Monday 6 May 2024.
