The owner of a West Michigan dog rescue is avoiding jail time.

Last year, authorities seized 78 dogs from Cober's Canine Rescue in Norton Shores after the dogs were found living in deplorable conditions. The owner of Cober's Canine Rescue, Lisa Cober, had previously pleaded guilty to dozens of felony animal cruelty charges. Per the plea deal, Cober avoided jail time and has been sentenced to five-years of probation.
