In 1984, Steve became a Probation Officer for San Diego County and the first Probation Officer in San Diego history to formally work on a Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force. Steve later became a Special Agent for the California Department of Justice. During his 32 years in law enforcement, his efforts focused on investigations of the most violent criminals in the United States and Mexico. He is an expert on street gangs, prison gangs, and Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations. Steve discusses his early childhood, and what drove him to law enforcement, and pulls no punches.
