We turn our attention to the Cincinnati Bengals newest cornerback, Josh Newton, who was selected in Round Five of the 2024 NFL Draft out of TCU on Episode 84 of Bengals On The Brain with Joe Goodberry, presented by First Star Logistics.

Newton continues the trend that started when Zac Taylor became a head coach, as Taylor and his staff love to draft former team captains. Newton began his college career at Louisiana-Monroe before heading to TCU, where he started every game (27 games) over two seasons.

Newton, a Monroe, Louisiana native, showcased his versatility and determination in his transition from high school wide receiver to college cornerback. This shift in position came after his freshman season, during intense spring practices.

During his two seasons in the Big 12 Conference, Newton earned first-team all-conference honors in 2022 and second-team all-conference honors in 2023.
