Para...MEDIC

A parasite (or mite?) becomes a medic when it patches the wound I unintentionally inflicted on its host.
Using a digital microscope to look at a fruit fly, I gave it a "tap" with my finger to help it be still. My tap caused a rupture near the fly's rearend.
I had already looked at quite a few gnats and fruit flies which had tiny pink parasites (or mites?) on board. This particular fruit fly only had one passenger, but it was a good one because it spins (or secretes?) a material which it uses to patch the fly's rupture. It literally bandages the wound in what looks almost like a cocoon. I end up burning everything and you will see how different the patched rear burns compared to the rest.
