Little Boy Tries To Teach Lazy Dog How To Fetch

We have a lot of videos of little kids being the fetcher instead of the dog during games of fetch. But this is one of the first videos we have come across that features the little kid trying to teach their dog how to fetch. The kid’s effort is valiant but he has some trouble succeeding because the dog is clearly not interested in fetching or getting off the couch or doing anything at all really.

The boy tries hard to get his dog to actually go and fetch the balls that he has thrown but he dog gives him the ultimate I don’t care enough to do that. He yawns, right in the boy’s face. Surprisingly, adorably, the little boy gives the dog a hug. But, in our eyes, it is the hug of someone who is disappointed. It is a “there, there” hug. For his part, the dog just looks confused by the hug. Why is he doing this to me, the dog’s face says to the camera while the boy holds the hug.

To be honest, this video has so many layers. Yes, it is funny that the dog is way, way too lazy to fetch the balls. Yes, it is funny that the boy is ultimately disappointed in his dog’s unwillingness to chase. But, the denouement is also very sweet and adorable.
