Cockatoo Is Happy When Owner Disappears
When we think of our pets, happy thoughts springs to our minds. They are fun to be around and looking after a pet enriches your life. It makes you more responsible and pets can grow you up just like little children do. We know that the positive energy of a pet can hardly be replaced with anything else. It is true that when we are feeling down in the dumps, our pet is the one that can brighten up our day. People keep all kinds of pets, from hamsters and skunks to lizards and parrots. Whatever the type of a pet, one thing is true - you will never feel alone again. Pets can show an unimaginably naughty behavior, they can throw tantrums and they can be as stubborn as mules. Oftentimes, dealing with such a cranky behavior is more difficult than dealing with your own child.
The family in this video is a happy owner of a parrot Cockatoo and his name is Angel. The name serves him right, if we judge him by his appearance - lush bird with big wings, blunt-ended feathers, white body and a fan-shaped erectile crest of broad - a dream parrot. Remember how the saying goes: “ Never judge a book by its covers”. The same is true for this hyperactive bird. Angel may only look like an angel but he is not a one. On the contrary - one minute he is as quiet as a mouse and the next one he is already throwing tantrums. This bird can be as fickle as the weather, playing one minute and screaming and nipping the next. But birds will be birds, with all of their quirks and caprices, and umbrellas are no exception.
As Angel’s owner says: "We wanted to reproduce the fluffy challenge, but in a nicer way and we managed to film Angel, our cockatoo actually being happy when his friend, Cata, disappeared." Peek-a-boo is one of the favorite games for children and animals. Now wonder why do they get so excited whenever they play it. Angel is particularly overwhelmed when his friend Cata hides behind the blanket, shows his face very quickly and then he disappears totally. It is then when Angel’s mood changes entirely. At first, he is a bit baffled with the disappearance of his friend. He just stands on the verge of the bed and wonders where has Cata gone. He looks left, he looks right, he turns back but Cata can be found nowhere. It is a perfect trigger for Angel to go crazy, he totally snaps, starts flapping his wings, jumps and does whatever comes to his mind. He looks happy one moment then agitated the next, we are not sure whether he is rejoiced to Cata’s disappearance or he wants him back.
Angel can become quite upset and destructive if he doesn’t receive enough attention. His communication boils down to squawking and loud screaming. Cockatoos who do not feel that their emotional needs are being met will scream, engage in feather plucking, and become aggressive. Always try to keep your cockatoo, animated because the easiest way to make them unhappy is to keep it in isolation.
