Coronavirus Lockdown Causes Stress For Dogs Too

Poncho this pooch is definitely tired of the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. After three weeks of the social distancing orders in British Columbia, even pets are beginning to lose their patience. The covid19 pandemic throughout the world is having enormous effects on everyone. Everyone has seen the directives, wash your hands often, don’t touch your mouth and face, and most importantly keep your distance from others that you do not live with on a daily basis. Pets as well are feeling the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Dog parks are closed as are many parks and trails in the Vancouver B.C area. Pet owners that have become accustomed to taking their dogs to local dog parks can no longer do that, and even the dogs themselves are surely missing out on playing with their friends at these parks. Poncho whom you see in this video has also been missing her local dog park friends. Although she does get out with her owner for neighbourhood walks, this appears to be not quite enough to keep her satisfied. Being restricted to her yard for most of the day, Poncho does get bored. “How does Poncho deal with this separation from her friends?”you ask. Well, as you will see, she takes her frustrations out on none other than the recycling bin for bottles and cans. In Vancouver, local residents have curb side pickup for bottles and cans, so they are placed in a blue plastic bin to make pickup easy. This also makes it easy for Poncho to take out her frustrations and get her some very important attention. Dogs all need attention, so as you will see, Poncho has shown the way she releases her “coronavirus lockdown anxiety” as well as gains the attention she desires. Poncho’s owner deals with her daily ritual in a very positive way, “Poncho, what have you done?”. She is surely a loved pooch!
