South African -Cape Town -22 December 2020 - Members of the South African Police Services from the Lingelethu Police station, closed down two of amaBhuma (initiation huts) in Khayelitsha. This is according to the Covid -19 regulations which suspends Ulwaluko (the initiation schools) in the Western Cape during the level 5 lockdown.Unlike the Eastern Cape the Western Cape is not allowing for this practice to take place after there were stricter restrictions by the government. The two initiates are only a week at the initiation school, their parents were called to resolve the issue and they could be taken to hospital if they are not in good health, something that is against this Xhosa tradition.photograph :Phando Jikelo/African News Agency (ANA)
