Six years ago in 2014, Brent and his wife Elsa were planing a trip to Riviera Maya Mexico to celebrate Brent's 5oth birthday. Slowly Brent has been removing items from his bucket list, and that year it was to take up scuba diving. In his class was a man that became a very good friend. Mathew was a very fit fellow, had many accomplishments in life in the medical field, and was an overall great guy. Brent himself is not a strong swimmer so when it came to accomplishing the required long swim for the scuba course, Brent was struggling. Mathew, seeing Brent having a tough time with the swim, jumped in the pool and swam the remaining four laps along side Brent, instilling confidence that Brent could do it, and he did although being the last to finish. Finishing anything he takes on has been how Brent deals with life, "I am not a quitter!!" he always says. over the last six years, Brent and Mathew have become great friends and dive buddies. One year Brents wife decided she wanted to learn scuba as well, and she too accomplished a life dream. In 2017 Elsa was diagnosed with cancer, life became very tough for her and her family, but she was also not a quitter. Through many rounds of treatment, Elsa always pulled through with a smile and a positive attitude. May 2020 was Elsas 51st birthday, but she was not very healthy sadly. Elsas family decided it was time to have many friends put together their birthday wishes into a video. Gathering clips and snippets from many happened very effortlessly. Everyone was excited to help in the creation to bring smiles and love into Elsas life. Mathew came up with this amazing tribute, he has always "thought out the box". Here is Matt's input on a great video we hope you enjoy. Sadly Elsa lost her battle in July of 2020, but her smiles, happiness and strength live on in memories with her family. Her husband still tries to keep active in the dive community and dives with Elsa PINK, yes very pink air tanks on his back. He says" I will keep her diving as long as I can" through using some of the gear Elsa wore every time she dropped below the waves. Keep those you love very close to your heart, forever.
