Proverbs 26:13-16 and the Causes and Solutions to Laziness
The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road! There is a lion in the streets!” As a door turns on its hinges, so does a sluggard on his bed. The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; it wears him out to bring it back to his mouth. The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can answer sensibly.
Proverbs 26:13-16
What we think of as laziness is a behavior or a pattern of behaviors and rarely a character trait in itself. This passage describes several potential sources of lazy behavior:
-Fear
-Comfort
-Health
-Pride
All of these problems have solutions or at least tools to help manage them. The solution to most laziness is to identify and address the root causes and then adjust your expectations of the world through experience and faith in your Creator's plan.
