Tony Katz Today Headliner: The Founding Principle of Forming a More Perfect Union

We are not having a conversation in this country about the kind of America we want. We are having a conversation of do we want an America, or not.

President Joe Biden's understanding of America is not only wrong, but it is actively un-American. He calls the 1776 Commission “offensive and counter-factual” but considers the proven fiction that is the 1619 Project essential learning. He says we have never fully lived up to the founding Principles of this nation.

We lived up to the founding principles of this nation when we said “let’s get started" and went forth with the work of forming a more perfect union. Work that is ongoing and fundamental to liberty and freedom. We lived up to the founding principles of this nation when we said man should be free and even if we don't have it right yet, we are going to create the system that gets us there. We lived up to the founding principles of this nation when brother fought brother in the Civil War. We continue to live up to the founding principles of this nation to this very day.

Promoting regressive bigotry and teaching an ideology that believes America is downright evil does not work to form a more perfect union. It is fundamentally un-American. It ignores how far we have come, the blood that was shed and the sacrifices made to get here. A nation that exists in order to form a more perfect union is *always* trying to live up to its founding principles.

Do we believe in two different Americas? Or do we believe in an America or not?
