AMO’s Tucson Air Branch received a call from Cochise County Search and Rescue (CCSO) requesting air support for a hiker stranded in the Huachuca Mountains on March 22, 2021. The solo female, a U.S. citizen, was on a hiking trail and suffered a broken leg. Several attempts to assist had been made by an Arizona DPS helicopter, however, no landing zone was accessible and winds were gusting over 40 mph. The Tucson Air Branch responded with a hoist capable UH-60 Black Hawk for the rescue request. The UH-60 air crew located and successfully hoisted the female into the aircraft. She was immediately transported to Canyon Vista Hospital for further treatment.
