Mucormycosis (also known as Black Fungus) is an invasive mold infection caused by a group of molds called mucormycetes. Mucormycosis can enter your body when you came in contact with fungal spores in the environment (air, water and soil). Patients with diabetes, cancer patients or Covid-19 patients are more susceptible to this infection because they already have low immunity. Uncontrolled sugar is one of the major risk factors for getting the invasive fungal infection. However, Mucormycosis is not contagious like Covid-19.
