SHORT NAP CHECKLIST

✅ Is your baby's room environment primed for sleep...I’m talking DARK room, loud white noise & ensuring the room temp is between 19-22c

✅ Is your baby self settling at the start of the nap? Resettling is a skill your little one will master AFTER they can self settle at the beginning of their nap. Longer naps will come later and naturally with time, age and consistency.

✅ Is bub dozing off or even zoning out during their awake time? This can sometimes be enough to reduce their sleep pressure and cause them to protest at nap time and/or cat nap!

✅ Is your baby waking hungry? I’m a big fan of a top up feed before nap time to ensure your little one is full enough to stay asleep

✅ Are they following an age appropriate routine? Timing is the absolute key to getting great naps!

✅ Is your baby younger than 5 months of age? If so, catnapping is developmentally normal! Lots of babies will cat nap until this age (sometimes older) despite all your best efforts. BUT this doesn’t mean you can’t help them to consolidate naps.
