Construction, engineering, and architecture projects can sometimes be massive, and when they are on a whole other level we call them mega projects.

So, what do mega projects consist of? Think of interstate highways, the International Space Station, the Kashagan oil fields, or the Kansai airport; these projects bring together huge resources in science and technology to build absolutely extraordinary structures.

In this video, we bring you some of the world’s largest and therefore most expensive megaprojects. How much do they cost? Well, it depends on the project but we can assure you the amounts are exorbitant.

For instance, The Belt and Road Initiative in China that aims to connect Asia with Africa and Europe will cost up to $8 trillion. The International Space Station costs about $150 billion to build and launch and costs up to $4 billion a year to maintain. The Kashagan Oil Fields cost $116 billion; Malaysia’s forest city is going for a whopping $100 billion while Qatar’s megacity named Lusail is reaching $45 billion.
