Royal Australian Navy Ships Conduct Replenishment At Sea With US Navy
This is the moment the Royal Australian Navy's Warramunga and Brisbane vessels have their fuel tanks replenished with help from the US navy.
In the footage released by the Royal Australian Navy today, 20th October, the HMA ships can be seen docking with the USNS Big Horn.
The 'dual replenishment' mission saw the Australian ships replenished by the USNS Big Horn.
The USNS Big Horn is a US navy Henry J. Kaiser-class replenishment oiler that was launched in 1991.
The Big Horn has primarily been used in Humanitarian missions delivering oil to crisis struck regions.
The ship deliver oil during the 2010 Haiti earthquake relief missions delivering ver 2,000,000 gallons of fuel during operation ' Operation Unified Response'.
HMAS Warramunga is the third of eight Anzac Class frigates built by Tenix Defence Systems at Williamstown, Victoria for the Royal Australian Navy.
HMAS Brisbane is the second of three ships of the Hobart Class guided-missile destroyers and has several key roles in the Austrian navy including air defence, surface warfare, surveillance and undersea warfare.
