Republican Glenn Youngkin projected to win Virginia governor's race after just two weeks as candidate

Republican Glenn G Youngkin came from behind to win the Virginia gubernatorial race after barely two weeks as the candidate, early returns show.

He was running against two other Republicans, Ed Gillespie and Ralph Northam, who had been the presumed front-runners.

Youngkin's win makes him Virginia's first African-American Republican governor. He started as a Grand Marshall in an event for African-American Republicans in Richmond and swept up the support of several major Republican donors. His campaign also was heavily backed by the conservative Americans for Prosperity (AFP).

Youngkin talked about education and transportation and called for a growth plan
