The first gold lode in Colorado was discovered here before it was a state or a territory on May 6, 1859 by John H Gregory of Georgia. My video is from Bates Hill facing the Gregory Diggings at sunrise. Later named Mountain City sits at the border of Central City and Black Hawk Colorado. There is never a lack of wind here and the ravines love to sail around the canyon. You will also see some remnants of stone walls that had structures at one time built into the hill side. You will also see mine tailings on the hills. I have a lot of videos of this National Historic District so check them out here on my Rumble.com channel. When visiting the front range of Denver you should put this on your list. Rich in history and now home to many casinos. Lots of things to do here.
