NYC Restaurant-Owner Defies Vax Mandate: ‘All Welcome;’ Former ‘Essential Workers’ Protest Mandate

“They said she was well enough to come home, they needed the bed for someone who was sicker. And about two to three days later, my grandmother was gone,” said the young healthcare professional, identifying herself only as ‘Age.’

The rally, which was tagged with the slogan, “essential to expendable,” made its way from the Headquarters of a major pharmaceutical company to Hudson Yards. Many frontline workers, including firefighters and healthcare workers–once considered ‘essential’–were among the group. They object to their apparent relegation to ‘second-class-citizen’ status, for simply not wanting the vaccine.

“I understand giving people the choice, but to force it onto people who have been working throughout this entire pandemic–slaving away and taking care of people’s sick family members. Many of us got sick. Many of us got COVID.”
