Aurelia aurita (also called common jellyfish, moon jellyfish, moon jellyfish or plate jellyfish) is a species of the genus Aurelia.
Jellyfish are almost entirely translucent, usually about 25–40 cm (10–16 in) in diameter, and can be identified by their four horseshoe-shaped gonads, easily seen through the top of the bell. It feeds by collecting medusa, plankton, and mollusks with its tentacles, and bringing them into its body to be digested. It is only capable of limited movement, and drifts with the current, even while swimming.
