Silencing Foolish Tongues
26th in our series the Book of 1 Peter

B. He will be cast out from before God’s presence
II. Putting to Silence - 1 Peter 2:13-15
A. Godly government must be done "for the Lord’s sake” therefore can never be something that violates God’s perfect Law
B. God’s will for us - silencing the prating of fools
1. A fool is without reason, senseless, ignorant & rash
2. Jesus rebuked the foolish rich man - Luke 12:20
a. Those without Christ are lost eternally
b. Those in Christ may slip from their calling and fall into the
snare of the devil doing is will - 2 Timothy 2:24-26
C. Beware when you judge another, get the log out - Matthew 7:1-5
D. When we are offended
1. Glory to overlook an offense - Prov. 19:11; Eccles. 7:5
2. Only if too great to overlook do we begin the process of lovingly confronting
E. If your brother sins against you - Matthew 18:15
1. The Peacemaker’s Pledge commits First to Glorifying God in every conflict,
2. Second to Getting the log out of my own eye
3. Third to Gently restoring our brother - Galatians 6:1-2
4. Fourth to Go and be Reconciled - Ephesians 4:1-3
III. Questions we can use in applying the Peacemaker’s Pledge

Please stop right there - have you spoken directly with the brother you are speaking of?
Are you following the Peacemaker’s Pledge?
What is the log in your eye? Is what has offended you actually sin?
Have you considered overlooking the offense? Will you forgive if they repent?
