Fishing for Steelhead, Salmon & Trout / Trout Fishing in Michigan / Fall Steelhead Fishing Michigan

In this Michigan fishing video I am fishing for steelhead salmon and trout on several various Michigan rivers. Trout fishing in Michigan is great and you never know when tossing spinners if your gonna be bit by a trout, salmon or steelhead as they all love to eat spinners. sometimes I target salmon and end up catching steelhead or trout and most of the time I target steelhead I end up catching brown trout or coho salmon. I dont discriminate because I love salmon trout and steelhead. In fact my my favorite fish to target are salmon, steelhead and brown trout. I used to think trout fishing in Michigan was a thing you could only do in northern Michigan and that it required some crazy amount of skill and finese but thats simply not the case. Trout can be easy to catch with spiners, spawn, beads jigs, crank baits ect. The same applies for fall steelhead fishing in michigan except these great lakes steelhead are older and wiser and if you manage to hook one they are adept at escaping. Coho salmon on the other hand are easier to land and can be finicky biters in the river. Most coho salmon bites are actualy territorial agression bites as they dont actively feed in the river. When it comes to steelhead they will bite out of agression and out of a desire to eat a meal but they are often more finicky. so often I go Fall River Fishing for Steelhead, Salmon & Trout as a combo beacuse the techniques and baits and locations are often the same. After fall the salmon are gone and the steelhead become more tight lipped in winter. Winter steelhead are less likely to chase a lure for sure and spring steelhead dont care about lures at all. I have bouced lures off the face of spring steelhead with no reaction at all because they dont give 2 turds about anthing bus spawning in the spring. Resident river trout are another story all together. Aside from the heat of mid summer trout smash lures all year round and thats part of why I like trout fishing in Michigan and enjoy spinner fishing for trout in rivers. Michigan steelhead fishing is the thing that gets me truly fired up though. Steelhead aka giant lake run rainbow trout are among the most epic battle available in fresh water. Steelhead fishing inMichigan is unique because we have freshwater steelhead as where most of the rest of the world has saltwater un steelhead.
