Night Fishing With Lures For Bass, Northern Pike & Brown Trout / Rapala Shadow Rap Jerkbait Fishing

In this fishing video we are night fishing with lures. High dirty water has made it tough to fish for catfish and carp and my favorite walleye spots are to high to wade so we set off to find some fishable waters. We are up for catching just about anything at this point so we decided go to where we think we may find some bass and pike. there is also a chance of bonus trout and salmon in these places so we liked the plan. As it turned out we managed to catch some smallmouth bass and some northern pike and a brown trout!

I have not spent much time night fishing for trout. I have gone out to specificly night fishing for brown trout one time and I got skunked that night. However I have picked up a few brown trout at night while fishing for salmon and walleye. Night fishing for pike is a whole different story. about 7 years ago I went night fishing for the first time ever as an adult and that night I caught my first walleye and my first big pike. A fat 32 inch northern pike changed my life that night. for the next 2 years I targeted pike almost exclusively. I have now caught easily 50 30+ inch northern pike and a few as big as 38 inches. then all the sudden I became salmon and steelhead obsessed and I haven't done nearly enough pike fishing the last few years. The problem is the best time to target trophy pike is fall and winter and that is when I fish for salmon and steelhead. Fall river fishing in Michigan is epic and it can be hard to choose what to fish for when the options are nearly endless.

michigan bass fishing is how I cut my teeth but I still never went smallmouth bass fishing at night until recent years and let me tell you
fishing below dams at night for bass can be epic. especially when you hit the moon phase just right. Night fishing for smallmouth bass is not hard but it is fun and I have the best luck throwing Rapala Shaddow Raps and spinners for night bass and the same is true for pike, walleye and trout. This was actually my first ever brown trout on a jerk bait though. The rapalla shaddow Rap is my favorite suspending jerk bait and I have caught pike bass trout walleye sucker, steelhead and even panfish on the Rapala Shadow Rap. rapala shaddow rap jerkbait fishing goes hand in hand with michigan river fishing as well as night fishing.
