Caring for my dog’s pressure sores means keeping the dressing dry and when it’s pouring out. I had to find a way to keep the bandages dry. I’ve kinda settled on layering…

1) plastic wrap over her bandages (I’m using Glad PRESS’NSEAL here)
2) next, a sock (these are small, but a longer one would work too (it just needs to not slip off the dog's / pet's foot)
3) top layer, cloth wound flex-wrap (this wrap is super flexible & gives the right amount of traction; something a dog with weaker hind legs needs more of)

I’ve seen some waterproof socks out there (one company was in Portugal I think) but I'm sharing my DIY just in case anyone else runs into this and needs some ideas for a temporary waterproofing-any area (as long as you can somehow secure the wrapping. Also with items you may already have in your first-aid kits. I’ve actually tried using the Glad PRESS'NSEAL in the shower to cover my medical device but as soon as the soap hits it - it doesn’t stick anymore…just an FYI….). For her feet, though, layering by this method has been working great! It doesn't take long to put on or remove either.

And in case you're wondering, Libby has dog shoes but they don’t fit well over the bandages. She doesn’t walk in them well either but she actually likes the wrapping - I think she feels like she has more grip with the challenges she has with her back paws (Cushing's weakens muscles not to mention she's "geriatric" now and has arthritis too).

Thanks for watching! Feel free to leave comments or questions in the comments.

Blessings,
Karah, Jay & Libby
