Biofouling, Marine pollution, Marine water pollution. #Biofouling# Marine pollution. Marine pollution has a wide range of consequences for our environment. Biofouling is a major source of marine pollution. The ballasting and deballasting of water from the ballast tank in the ship's hull causes biofouling. Water transports microorganisms from one port to another, where they are discharged. This microbe pollutes the water and harms marine life as a result. They are also linked to the ship's hull, which allows them to secrete sticky substances into the hull, which allow plants, animals, and other substances to adhere to the ship's hull. This raises the ship's weight while simultaneously increasing its fuel consumption. Steps taken to protect biofouling
1. Clean ballast tank.
2. Treatment of water in ballast tank.
3. Good quality of paint should be given to ship hull.
