The return policy is one people often test at its limits, on this episode we bring you 10 Costco returns you won’t believe.

Costco, the mega warehouse store has a return policy that is like no other. Offering a Lifetime Satisfaction Guarantee you shouldn’t be surprised if someone brings something back within their lifetime… right? While many say it’s within reason and often Costco employees will say it’s up to the store manager’s discretion, that hasn’t stopped people from trying though.

10. Dirty Litter Box
Costco’s return policy was put in place to give customer’s confidence making purchases knowing they can return an item if it isn’t satisfactory. Unfortunately a few unlucky Costco employees had to deal with the return of a dirty litter box. Crap encrusted skid marks down the side of the box with caked on layer of dirty litter has handed over to the employees to deal with.

9. Furniture
Showing up to the store with a Uhaul filled to the brim, a man demanded to return his entire house full of furniture and appliances. Packed in his Uhaul was beds, furniture, throw carpets, bikes, fridges and even a garden hose.

8. A Tree
A customer showed up one day to a Costco with a twig in hand. There was no soil, no tree, no pot just a twig in hand claiming that’s all that was left and they wanted to return it. Possibly one of the few cases where a customer gets away with obvious highway robbery the manager returned $50 to the customer.

7. Used Underwear
A common return is one of used underwear going back into the costco warehouse, now don’t be worried Costco won’t sell underwear that has it’s package opened but people abuse the lifetime guarantee. Employees often have customers show up with a full pack of worn out, sweaty, dirty undies requesting their money back.

6. Chicken Coop
One of the most unusual returns employees saw was a used, dirty chicken coop. Like many items you can buy from Costco, the chicken coop was purchased online well over a year prior. When the man and his family started to unload it, what was left was a pile of materials all falling apart that barely resembled a coop.

5. A Safe
Another online purchase, a safe made its way back to Costco but when opened a waft of marijuana filled the air. Police were called to the scene.

4. Food and Drink
A customer showed up to Costco one day with a ½ empty bottle of wine demanding a refund, while another returned a fully empty bottle of wine claiming it gave her a headache. While that might seem bizarre not as much as someone trying to return $200 worth of Vacuum Packed Ribeye Steak.

3. Pressure Washer
Pressure washer’s today aren’t made with exactly the highest level of quality but you should expect to get a handful of years of use out of one especially if it’s just a few seasonal jobs and not a pressure washing business. One customer showed up with a 15 year old pressure washer claiming it didn’t work anymore. Is this ridiculous or falls under “Lifetime Satisfaction” what do you think?

2. Ping Pong Table
A rusted out, half broken ping pong table made its way into the returns line. The customer not being happy with how the outdoor rated ping pong table held up after 10 years of use thought it was time for a new one. When calling the store the customer spoke with the store manager who wasn’t authorized to approve the return, she patched him forward to a manager.

1. TV
In 2004 a 40” Plasma TV was purchased in Sherman Oaks California. Cost was around $2400, but over the following years the prices of tv’s would drop drastically as new innovation came along with LCD TVs. Back in those days Costco offered their Lifetime Satisfaction Guarantee on electronics which has since changed on February 26th 2007. For anyone who has purchased an electronic before than though that guarantee is still in effect. In 2010, 6 years later, a customer called up a buddy who helped him lug down this huge tv to Costco.

What do you think about this crazy return policy, do you have any experiences of your own, share them in the comments down below.
