In this video, Joe talks about the possible communication paths that the IQ Panel 2 uses to communicate with Alarm.com. The system can communicate with the service by using WIFI communication or cellular connectivity. Using Alarm.com is very important for getting the most out of the security system.

Alarm.com is the interactive service that is used with the IQ Panel 2. By accessing Alarm.com, a user can arm and disarm their system, operate Z-Wave smart home devices, check the current status of their security sensors, view the live feed of security cameras and more. The service can be accessed through a web browser or by using the Alarm.com Mobile App on an Android or iOS device.

The IQ Panel 2 comes with both a WIFI card and a built-in cellular radio for communicating with Alarm.com. The system will typically use WIFI as the primary communication path and cellular as the backup. The cellular backup is particularly important, as it will keep the system connected to the network whenever the WIFI goes down. This can be particularly important for power outages. The cellular network that the system connects with will depend on the cellular communicator that is installed in the system. Most Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Systems will connect with either the AT&T LTE network or the Verizon LTE network.

When a system event occurs, such as an alarm, the IQ Panel 2 System will send an alert out to the Alarm.com servers through its WIFI and cellular communicators. As long as one alert is received by Alarm.com, the command can be forwarded to a central monitoring station or directly to the end user via text or email. As a result, the system will need to be connected with Alarm.com in order to provide monitoring services. That is why maintaining a reliable communication path is very important.
