In this video, Bryce talks about how the Honeywell 5877 Relay can be used with the Honeywell Lyric Controller to manage a garage door. The 5877 Relay can be used with both normally open and normally closed garage motors. A tilt sensor, like the 5822T, must be set up with a zone from 127 through 130.

The 5822T can be learned in with the Lyric System in largely the same way as any other sensor. Zones 127 through 130 are reserved for use with garage doors. One of these zones should be used. The 5877 Relay must also be set up with the Lyric. This is done through the "Garage Door Setup" section within the Automation menu. A user should select the garage door they want to configure.

Up to four garage doors can be used with the system, and each garage door is associate with a particular wireless zone for the system. Zone 127 is for Garage Door 1, 128 is for 2, 129 is for 3, and 130 is for 4. Make sure the Garage Door number selected correctly corresponds with the wireless zone in which the 5822T was programmed.

The Serial Number for the 5877 Relay must be manually entered into the Lyric System. The Serial Number can be found on the relay's circuit board, right below the device's plug-in cable. The relay will be wired directly with the garage door motor. There are inputs for both normally open and normally closed garage motors. However, connecting the garage door motor to the incorrect input will not harm the 5877.

Once the set up is complete, the user will be able to use their Lyric Controller to operate their garage door. They can use the Automation menu to open or close their garage door at any time. Additionally, the Lyric Controller can also show whether the garage door is opened or closed at any given time.
