Is Psychiatry a Science? Or Pseudoscience?

Is psychiatry a science? Have you ever wondered if psychiatry is a real science based on scientific laws? Or is it just a bunch of made-up theories?

It may surprise you to know that psychiatric disorders are not based on any science but voted in by psychiatrists. The "Science-by-vote” procedure is as surprising to a layperson as it is to other health professionals, who have witnessed Diagnostic Statistical Manual voting meetings.

“Mental disorders are established without scientific basis and procedure,” a psychologist attending the DSM hearings said. “The low level of intellectual effort was shocking. Diagnoses were developed by majority vote on the level we would use to choose a restaurant. Then it’s typed into the computer. It may reflect on our naiveté, but it was our belief that there would be an attempt to look at the things scientifically.”

CCHR documentary - Psychiatry: Inventing Mental Illness exposes psychiatrists who are diagnosing and treating patients based on nothing but unscientific made-up theories; in South Africa and across the planet.
