Centre for Independent Studies: US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on 29 September 2023 that “The Middle East region is quieter today than it has been in two decades.” That all changed on October 7 when Hamas attacked Israel, which unsurprisingly invaded Gaza to destroy Hamas. After more than six months, it appears to many that Israel is losing its war in Gaza. At the same time, Israel is fighting Hezbollah on its northern border, relations between Jerusalem and Washington are strained, and the International Court of Justice has ruled that a plausible case can be made that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. Meanwhile, there is great danger of escalation across the region, as the fighting between Israel and Iran makes clear. Indeed, there is a possibility the United States, which is already fighting the Houthis, might end up in a war with Iran, which neither country wants. What might be the lasting consequences of these conflicts? Who will emerge weaker and who stronger? And what does this crisis mean for U.S. foreign policy in the region, Ukraine and East Asia?

The Secret Land is a 1948 American documentary film about a government expedition code-named "Operation High Jump" to explore Antarctica. It won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Operation Highjump (OpHjp), officially titled The United States Navy Antarctic Developments Program, 1946-1947, was a United States Navy operation organized by Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd Jr., USN (Ret), Officer in Charge, Task Force 68, and led by Rear Admiral Richard H. Cruzen, USN, Commanding Officer, Task Force 68. Operation Highjump commenced August 1946 and ended in late February 1947. Task Force 68 included 4,700 men, 13 ships, and multiple aircraft. The primary mission of Operation Highjump was to establish the Antarctic research base Little America IV. The Western Group of ships reached the Marquesas Islands on December 12, 1946, whereupon the Henderson and Cacapon set up weather monitoring stations. By the 24th, the Currituck had begun launching aircraft on reconnaissance missions. The Eastern Group of ships reached Peter I Island in late December 1946. On January 1, 1947, LCDR Thompson and Chief Petty Officer Dixon utilized "Jack Browne" masks and DESCO Oxygen rebreathers to log the first dive by Americans under the Antarctic.[4] Paul Allman Siple, PhD was the senior U.S. War Department representative on the expedition. Dr. Siple was the same Eagle Scout who accompanied Admiral Byrd on the previous Byrd Antarctic expeditions. On December 30, 1946, aviation radiomen Wendell K. Hendersin, Fredrick W. Williams, and Ensign Maxwell A. Lopez were killed when their PBM Mariner George 1 crashed during a blizzard. The surviving six crewmembers, including Aviation Radioman James H. Robbins and co-pilot William Kearns, were rescued 13 days later. A plaque was later erected at the McMurdo Station research base, honoring the three killed crewmen. In December 2004, an attempt was made to locate the remains of the plane. There are ongoing efforts to repatriate the bodies of the three men killed in the crash. Killed airman Maxwell A. Lopez had a mountain named in his honour after his death, Mount Lopez on Thurston Island. Additionally, Vance N. Woodall died during a "ship unloading accident" sometime after December 30, 1946. In a crew profile, deckman Edward Beardsley described his worst memory as "when Seaman Vance Woodall died on the Ross Ice Shelf under a piece of roller equipment designed to "pave" the ice to build an airstrip." Father William Menster served as chaplain during the expedition, and in a service in 1947 he consecrated Antarctica. The Central Group of ships reached the Bay of Whales on January 15, 1947, where they constructed temporary runways along the glaciers, in a base dubbed Little America IV. Naval ships and personnel were withdrawn back to the United States in late February 1947 and the expedition was terminated, due to the early approach of winter and worsening weather conditions. After the operation ended, a follow-up Operation Windmill returned to the area, in order to provide ground-truthing to the aerial photography of Highjump.

Living in Florida we have been blessed enough to take our children on multiple vacations to “The Most Magical Place on Earth” aka Disney World. We had a family trip planned for my youngest daughter’s birthday wish. On March 30th, just a few days before we are set to leave, Disney REALLY became WOKE and made a statement that they will be challenging the Florida HB 1557 (Parental Rights Bill) along with stating they will not be calling boys-boys and girls-girls within the park. As a conservative and man of principle, I was ready to cancel the trip and do something else. But as a loving father, I knew I couldn’t explain this to my 4-year-old (nor should she be exposed to this at her age). So my mind went to work. I was more than annoyed, I was appalled that Disney, a company that WE THE PEOPLE had supported all these years. A company that was built for sharing stories of “Happily Ever After” and giving many–no matter what your background/scenario your life had put you through–a vision and hope that a beautiful life awaits for you if you only imagine it and believe it! I said to myself if Walt Disney were alive today would this be happening? With that thought the inspiration for this shirt came – “Where’s Walt”. I quickly jumped online and designed this shirt. As I went to get it printed, I got a message from the online shirt company (Rush Order Tees) that they were not going to print the shirt. This only added fuel to my fire as I saw that people were either scared to speak out against companies that supported this or they were in favor of these views. That’s when I knew someone had to get up and take charge. Looking at the astonishing speed at which the woke culture is pervading society, if I had waited any longer, it would be too late. So, I decided to do it myself and let my voice be heard. As we know God always gives us everything we need. Thankfully all it took was one phone call to a personal contact and the shirts were at my doorstep just in time for the trip. My light was about to shine, and shine it did!!! (Matthew 5:16). When I wore this shirt to Magic Kingdom, I honestly had no idea what the reaction would be. Would I be asked to leave the park or remove the shirt? Would people even take notice? After all I am just another guy with a shirt on. Man was I ever in for a surprise! The response and feedback, was truly amazing. I can't count how many times I was stopped and praised for the shirt (by guests and yes; even employees) or asked to have my picture taken or questioned where I bought it from. The biggest praise and truly inspiring moment for me came at the end of the first night. After being there all day, as we were leaving on the ferry boat an older gentleman tapped me on my shoulder. I looked over and he had his hand out stretched. When we firmly shook hands he looked me in the eyes and said I had to come and thank you for being brave enough to wear that shirt. It is needed so much today. As I agreed I noticed he was wearing a USMC hat. I immediately asked if he served and thanked him for doing so. His response was "No Thank You." As he turned and limped away he went and sat back in his wheelchair. I looked at my wife and I knew right then What I had to do. The fight today isn't overseas. It is right here on our soil and if we do not STANDUP NOW for what is right we are doing ourselves and our children a huge disservice. The rest of the week on vacation I continued to wear the shirt and the feedback was nothing short of inspiring.
