Do you ever read or hear advice that just hits you so hard that you will never forget it? In this momtrepreneur life coffee chat, we are going to talk about 3 statements that will change your life. I've been running my virtual assistant business for almost 10 years, I've been homeschooling my 6 for about years now, needless to say we have a lot going in this house all the time. The next milestone we are approaching is my 17-year-old getting his driver's license. We are pushing hard for that. I feel like I am going to have so much more freedom because I will no longer be the teen taxi. 3 Statements that will Change Your Life Last week's post was all about the best advice for momtrepreneurs. I boiled advice on parenting, homeschooling, and entrepreneuring down to 3 to 4 statements. I like have short nuggets of information because we are busy and there is so much information out there it leads to information overload. Three to four pieces of information gives you a good place to start. You can handle 3 or 4. When I see tips on Pinterest that say, "70 Tips for XYZ." I'm done. You've lost me at 70. I don't even care if everything else after that sounds good. I'm done. Just give me a really short list. When to start your first day of homeschool? Should you start on Monday? Start on a Saturday? Or maybe a Wednesday? You know what, it is totally up to you when to start your first day of homeschool. However, I do have a few tips, tricks and suggestions from a mom who has been doing for almost 10 years now. And did I mention, I am a second-generation homeschooler. Sometimes it can feel very isolating. And that nobody understands you. We are rebel moms doing this working from home and homeschool mom thing that it can feel like you are alone. But you aren't alone and that is why I do these chats. When to Start Your First Day of Homeschool I've been in the homeschooling world for a very long time. I finally feel like this year I figured it out. But this is how I feel at this time of year. After years of trying to figure out curriculum and when to start your first day of homeschool, I've nailed. Then March rolls around and snatches my victory from me. But I do feel like the way I set up the first couple of weeks of school this year, is the best it has ever been. So I wanted to let you in on all my secrets. When I Normally Start Our First Day of Homeschool In years past, I always started school the first Monday in August. My brain works better when I start things on Monday. This year, I decided to change it up because it happened to be my daughter's birthday, and that would just be mean. I faced a conundrum with when to start our first day of homeschool. I always feel like my kids need to be 30 before I can offer parenting advice. But here is goes anyway. These are tips that I've heard or experienced myself. First, if you want to raise polite kids, then be polite to them. Yep, it is that simple. Second, apologize when you need to. It is not always an easy thing to apologize to a two-year-old, but sometimes it is necessary. Third, enjoy your kids. Even if it is just sitting on the couch drawing a square over and over. Finally, your kids aren't you. You homeschool so that you can create the life you love and work and school on your terms. This means that your homeschool doesn't need to look like public school. You can choose to get the entire curriculum pack (this is what I do), or piece curriculum together. Whatever you decided to use, think beyond the books. There are three homeschool tools that I like to use. DVD courses are a lifesaver. Especially, as a work from home mom. These are great tools to alleviate some of the teaching pressure. You can get a complete curriculum or pick and choose the subjects. Canva is another tool to add to your homeschool mom bag. You can create homeschool resources, and your kids can learn design concepts. Skillshare is the final tool to incorporate. This really takes learning beyond the books. As parents, we all want to launch our kids into the world with the tools they need to handle every situation. From the time they are toddlers, we are teaching them to be independent—get themselves dressed, use the potty by themselves (one of my favorite milestones), feed themselves—the list could go on and on. But as they get older, we start to shift from the things they need to do for themselves to learning to be independent thinkers. We wrapped up our second week of homeschool with a trip to the zoo. We had a blast and little dude was asked to feed a hippo. He was over the moon. What a great homeschool adventure for him.

I know this is a hot topic for so many moms. Whether you work from home and homeschool, work and school, or any variation of these. It is always a struggle to find the balance. Seeing this topic discussed in different social media groups, I've reached the conclusion that most moms have just given up on the idea of balance. I must say, the zen-like balance that we are told we need to achieve is lost on me too. I don't think we can achieve the beautiful pictures of the sunny beaches in the background. In front of you is the perfectly balanced rocks. It is the most serene and peaceful scene. Instinctively, we all know that is what we want. But reality is a far different picture than those perfectly balanced rocks. Just outside of this magical picture are kids running around screaming on the beach. If you are trying to do all the things—kids, school, marriage, self-care, relationships, emotional well-being of your kids—and so much more. Do you ever have those times where you feel like you hit a brick wall and you just need to take a break? Moms, welcome to another momtrepreneur life coffee chat. This is a time where we talk about all things momtrepreneur—from raising your kids, to running a business, to keeping your sanity. I have been a successful virtual assistant for almost ten years and I am also a homeschool mom of 6. This is a time to pull the curtain back on life as a homeschool mom and momtrepreneur. Grab your favorite coffee in your favorite mug and let's chat. Realizing Mama Needs a Break This past weekend, I really felt like I just completely hit a brick wall. There is a lot going on. I have a lot of ideas going through my head. So I realized that I need to adjust my schedule and take a short break from these momtrepreneur life coffee chats. And we are starting school in 3 weeks. It is the realization that it is coming up, and I feel like I haven't had a summer break. So this mama needs a break. Another Reason to Take a Break We are hitting birthday season! We have 5 birthdays in the next 6 weeks. And I took them to comic con for their birthdays. It was a lot of fun. Listen to the episode to hear all the details and how I am going to work comic con because they want to go again. The right after birthdays, we have our anniversary. Just realizing that I have all of this going on. Then there is some digital content creation that I want to focus on. I have a course idea that I want the outline done and start recording by the end of this month. The only way I am going to get any of this done is to make room in my schedule. Something needs to be put temporarily on hold, so I can get some of this other stuff done. I am always full of ideas, and now I just need the time to get it done. There is so much happening this month that my plate is beyond overflowing, so something has to give in the schedule. What do you do when you hit a wall and mama needs a break?
