𝐍𝐌𝐍: The Secret Molecule to Reverse Aging || How to Live A Longer Life!
In this video I explain everything there is to know about NMN! NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) is a molecule that is being studied as a potential anti-aging supplement. It is an NAD+ precursor, meaning it can raise NAD+ levels in the body, which may slow down the aging process and protect against diseases.

This video articulates the gist of the following: NMN, short for nicotinamide mononucleotide, is a molecule that has been gaining popularity in recent years as a potential anti-aging supplement. NMN is a derivative of vitamin B3 and plays a vital role in many bodily processes, including DNA synthesis. In order to understand the potential benefits of NMN, it's important to first understand the role of NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) in the body. NAD+ is a molecule that is present in every living organism, including humans, animals, plants, and even fish. It is the most abundant molecule in the body besides water, and without it, an organism would die in a matter of seconds. NAD+ plays a critical role in aging and protecting DNA from deadly diseases. It is also important for the function of mitochondria, which are responsible for converting food into energy. As we age, the levels of NAD+ in our body start to decline. This means that our cells stop functioning normally and our energy levels begin to decline. However, NMN may be able to help with this problem. NMN is an NAD+ precursor, or NAD+ booster, which means it can raise NAD+ levels in the body. The benefit of taking NMN over NAD+ is that NAD+ molecules are too large to be easily absorbed by the body, while NMN is a smaller molecule that is more easily absorbed. Additionally, the precursor to NMN, NR, is even smaller than NMN and is also being studied for its potential anti-aging benefits. While some people choose to inject NAD+ directly into the body through an IV drip, this method can be costly and time-consuming. There are also some foods, such as broccoli, shrimp, beef, mushrooms, cucumbers, and tomatoes, that contain NMN, but it would take an excessive amount of these foods to have a significant impact on the body. NMN has been studied in both mice and yeast, and has been shown to slow down the aging process by 10% in mice and 30% in yeast. Additionally, NMN has been shown to have a variety of potential benefits, including better endurance, improved sleep quality, reduced inflammation, and increased metabolic rate. It also protects against cancer, increases lifespan, and slows down the aging process. Another potential benefit of NMN is its ability to protect against Alzheimer's disease. NMN works in a different way than the nootropic called noopept, which is also being studied for its potential to delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Overall, NAD+ is an essential coenzyme that is required for life and cellular functions. By consuming NMN, it may be possible to raise NAD+ levels in the body and slow down the aging process, protecting against deadly diseases. If you're looking for a way to boost your energy levels and improve your overall health, NMN may be worth considering. However, it's important to note that more research is needed to fully understand the potential benefits and side effects of NMN. As with any supplement, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting to take NMN.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Noopept is a synthetic nootropic substance of the peptide class that is becoming increasingly popular in the nootropic community. It is known to increase memory recall, boost intelligence and learning, and has even been speculated to prevent Alzheimer's disease. Noopept works by helping to develop a memory of something, retain that memory, and then recall that memory at a later time. This makes it highly effective as a study drug, as it helps to improve memory retention and recall. Additionally, it can also be a good "conversation drug" as it increases verbal fluidity and allows for smoother dialogue. Clinical evidence suggests that Noopept boosts communication in neuron signaling by increasing alpha and beta brain wave activity. This helps to protect neurons, making it easier to enter the flow state, improve creativity and make you more prone to making resourceful and innovative decisions. The flow state is a state of mind where you are fully immersed in a task, and can defocus on non-important things and hone your attention to exactly the task in which you wish to complete. Noopept (also known as Omberacetam and GVS-111) is a nootropic substance of the peptide class. It is promoted and prescribed in Russia and neighboring countries as a nootropic with neuroprotective properties. It is growing in popularity as a cognitive enhancing compound due to its effectiveness and low active dose range of 10-30mg, which is much lower than other compounds with similar effects. Studies have found it to be 1000 times more potent than the prototypical racetam drug, piracetam. Insufflation and sublingual administration are sometimes preferred due to its low oral bioavailability of about 10%. It is recommended to take 10-30mg once a day for up to 56 days with extended breaks in between use. The physical effects of Noopept include subtle stimulation, a faint all-encompassing tingling sensation, headaches, and vision enhancement. The cognitive effects include anxiety suppression, wakefulness, thought connectivity, focus enhancement, thought acceleration, motivation enhancement, memory enhancement, rejuvenation and irritability. It is not addictive and has low potential for abuse, but tolerance can develop over prolonged use, requiring higher doses to achieve the same effects. Tolerance can take 3-7 days to reduce by half and 1-2 weeks to be back to baseline. It may also present cross-tolerance with other racetam nootropics. Omberacetam modulates the acetylcholine system as well as the AMPA receptors. This modulation essentially allows acetylcholine to accumulate at higher levels than that which it otherwise would. As acetylcholine is involved in the function of memory, this could potentially account for its nootropic effects. Some research also suggests that NMDA receptors are involved in omberacetam's mechanism of action.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Shilajit is a natural substance that is extracted from high mountain rocks, primarily in the Himalayas. It has been used for thousands of years in traditional Ayurvedic medicine as a general health tonic and is believed to offer a wide range of health benefits. Shilajit is a complex mixture of minerals, vitamins, and organic compounds, including fulvic acid, which is one of its key components. Research has shown that fulvic acid has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to improve cardiovascular health, boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, and potentially even help to prevent certain types of cancer. One of the most significant benefits of shilajit is its ability to improve testosterone levels and enhance male fertility. This is due in part to the presence of high levels of fulvic acid, which is believed to support healthy hormone production and balance. In addition, shilajit can improve energy levels and regulate overall energy balance. It is also believed to provide cognitive stimulation, increase libido, reduce fatigue, and even slow down aging. In terms of cognitive benefits, shilajit is believed to enhance memory and focus, as well as increase overall mental clarity and alertness. This is due to the presence of essential minerals such as magnesium and iron, as well as other compounds that can help to improve the function of neurotransmitters in the brain. The recommended daily dose of shilajit is 250-750mg, taken on an empty stomach, but some people may be able to tolerate up to several grams of shilajit daily without any negative side effects. In general, shilajit is considered very safe, with no known adverse effects. Some people may experience mild digestive discomfort when taking shilajit, but this is usually temporary and can be avoided by taking it with food. In conclusion, shilajit is a versatile and natural nootropic that has been used for centuries to improve overall health and well-being. While more research is needed to fully understand the effects and benefits of shilajit, the current evidence suggests that it is a safe and effective natural supplement that may offer a wide range of benefits for cognitive and physical health. Whether you are looking to improve your energy levels, cognitive function, or overall health, shilajit may be worth considering as a natural and effective supplement.

Report any new or worsening symptoms right away. Escitalopram is an antidepressant belonging to a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with depression or anxiety. Escitalopram is used to treat major depressive disorder in adults and adolescents at least 12 years old. Escitalopram is also used to treat anxiety in adults. Do not use escitalopram within 14 days before or 14 days after you have used an MAO inhibitor. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine. Escitalopram (Cipralex) is a medication developed by the Danish pharmaceutical company Lundbeck, that acts as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It is approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. In the United States the drug is marketed under the name Lexapro by Forest Laboratories. Elsewhere escitalopram is marketed under various brand names such as Cipralex, Lexapro, Sipralexa and Seroplex by Lundbeck. Escitalopram is the eutomer of the racemic drug citalopram.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Strattera is indicated for the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children of 6 years and older, in adolescents and in adults as part of a comprehensive treatment programme. Treatment must be initiated by a specialist in the treatment of ADHD, such as a paediatrician, child/adolescent psychiatrist, or psychiatrist. Diagnosis should be made according to current DSM criteria or the guidelines in ICD. In adults, the presence of symptoms of ADHD that were pre-existing in childhood should be confirmed. Third-party corroboration is desirable and Strattera should not be initiated when the verification of childhood ADHD symptoms is uncertain. Diagnosis cannot be made solely on the presence of one or more symptoms of ADHD. Based on clinical judgment, patients should have ADHD of at least moderate severity as indicated by at least moderate functional impairment in 2 or more settings (for example, social, academic, and/or occupational functioning), affecting several aspects of an individual's life. Atomoxetine, sold under the brand name Strattera, among others, is a medication used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It may be used alone or along with psychostimulants. It is also used as a cognitive enhancer to improve alertness, attention, and memory. Use of atomoxetine is only recommended for those who are at least six years old. It is taken by mouth. Atomoxetine is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and is believed to work by increasing norepinephrine and dopamine levels in the brain. Atomoxetine is the first non-stimulant drug approved for the treatment of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is sold in the form of the hydrochloride salt of atomoxetine. It is manufactured and marketed under the brand name Strattera® by Eli Lilly and Company as a generic Attentin by Torrent Pharmaceuticals. There is currently no generic available within the United States due to patent restrictions. Atomoxetine is classified as a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, and is approved for use in children, adolescents, and adults. However, its efficacy has not been studied in children under six years old. Its advantage over stimulants for the treatment of ADHD is that it has less abuse potential than stimulants, is not scheduled as a controlled substance and has proven in clinical trials to offer 24 hour coverage of symptoms associated with ADHD in adults and children. Strattera was originally intended to be a new antidepressant drug; however, in clinical trials, no such benefits could be proven. Since norepinephrine is believed to play a role in ADHD, Strattera was tested and subsequently approved as an ADHD treatment. Atomoxetine was originally known as "tomoxetine". However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requested the name be changed because, in their opinion, the similarity of "tomoxetine" to "tamoxifen" (a breast cancer drug) could lead to dispensing errors at pharmacies. A NRI that is used for ADHD. With a quite odd pharmacological background.

It acts on your brain to produce a calming effect. It decreases the time to sleep onset by about fifteen minutes and at larger doses helps people stay asleep longer. It is taken by mouth and is available in conventional tablets, sublingual tablets, or oral spray. Zolpidem is labelled for short-term (usually about two to six weeks) treatment of insomnia at the lowest possible dose. Zolpidem should not be taken by people with obstructive sleep apnea, myasthenia gravis, severe liver disease, respiratory depression; or by children, or people with psychotic illnesses. It became available as a generic medication in 2007. It should not be taken by people who are or have been addicted to other substances. s zolpidem is associated with drug tolerance and substance dependence, its prescription guidelines are only for severe insomnia and short periods of use at the lowest effective dose.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Fluoxetine is used to treat depression, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, a certain eating disorder (bulimia), and a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). This medication may improve your mood, sleep, appetite, and energy level and may help restore your interest in daily living. It may decrease fear, anxiety, unwanted thoughts, and the number of panic attacks. It may also reduce the urge to perform repeated tasks (compulsions such as hand-washing, counting, and checking) that interfere with daily living. Fluoxetine may lessen premenstrual symptoms such as irritability, increased appetite, and depression. It may decrease binging and purging behaviors in bulimia. Prozac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. Fluoxetine affects certain chemical messengers (neurotransmitters) that communicate between brain cells and helps people with depression, panic, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Fluoxetine, sold under the brand names Prozac and Sarafem, among others, is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class. It is used for the treatment of major depressive disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), bulimia nervosa, panic disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It is also approved for treatment of major depressive disorder in adolescents and children 8 years of age and over. It has also been used to treat premature ejaculation. Fluoxetine is taken by mouth. Fluoxetine is effective in the treatment of obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) for adults. It is also effective for treating OCD in children and adolescents. The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry state that SSRIs, including fluoxetine, should be used as first-line therapy in children, along with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), for the treatment of moderate to severe OCD. Prozac is a prescription medicine used to treat symptoms of major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and bulimia nervosa (an eating disorder). Prozac may be used alone or with other medications. Fluoxetine is a type of antidepressant known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It's often used to treat depression, and sometimes obsessive compulsive disorder and bulimia. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is thought to have a good influence on mood, emotion and sleep. Fluoxetine helps many people recover from depression, and it has fewer side effects than some other antidepressants. Fluoxetine is available only on prescription. It comes as tablets, capsules, or a liquid that you swallow. Fluoxetine is an antidepressant medication that works in the brain. It is approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, bulimia nervosa, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Fluoxetine may also be helpful when prescribed “off-label” for body dysmorphic disorder, binge eating disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social phobia (also known as social anxiety disorder), dysthymia, or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

This video articulates the gist of the following: Arguably the most iconic toadstool species, the fly agaric is a large white-gilled, white-spotted, usually red mushroom, and is one of the most recognizable and widely encountered in popular culture, including in video games—e.g., the extensive use of a recognizable Amanita muscaria in the Mario franchise and its Super Mushroom power-up—and television—e.g., the houses in The Smurfs franchise. Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric or fly amanita, is a basidiomycete of the genus Amanita. It is also a muscimol mushroom. Native throughout the temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere, Amanita muscaria has been unintentionally introduced to many countries in the Southern Hemisphere, generally as a symbiont with pine and birch plantations, and is now a true cosmopolitan species. It associates with various deciduous and coniferous trees. The Fly Agaric, Amanita muscaria, is a hallucinogen and must be considered poisonous. These attractive fungi often appear in groups and are a common sight in all kinds of woodlands. Usually recurring in the same place for several years, Amanita muscaria is found frequently throughout the northern hemisphere, including Britain and Ireland, mainland Europe, Asia, the USA and Canada. The fly agaric (Amanita muscaria) is everywhere. Just this morning, I walked past a bug collection kit in Target fashioned in the image of the unforgettable red and white-speckled mushroom. It appears as garden statues, tea infusers, Halloween costumes, wrapping paper, and cell phone cases. In mass media, it features in the Smurfs, the Johnny Depp version of Alice and Wonderland, Fantasia (without its speckles or “warts”), and, in reverse—where the cap is white, and the warts are red—as the iconic Super Mario mushroom. And while most people use the phrase “magic mushroom” to refer to the far less colorful Psilocybe cubensis, discussions of that well-known psychedelic by text are almost always marked by the Amanita emoji: 🍄. Amanita muscaria is different from classical psychedelics: psilocybin, LSD, DMT, and mescaline. There’s no doubt that the mushroom is psychoactive—it’s a deliriant and a hallucinogen—but A. muscaria may not have the “mind-manifesting” qualities that classical psychedelics provide. At least three potential active compounds may contribute to A. muscaria’s combined physical effects and altered states of consciousness: muscarine, muscimol, and ibotenic acid. In the past, scientists thought that muscarine was the source of the mushroom’s psychotropic effects. Yet, research suggests that muscarine concentrations may be minimal in A. muscaria, although the concentration of this toxin can vary from mushroom to mushroom. Instead, two other compounds are responsible for Amanita’s strange trip: muscimol and ibotenic acid. Muscimol is a central nervous system depressant that may engage GABAa receptors. Ibotenic acid is stimulating and engages glutamate receptors. GABA is a calming neurotransmitter while glutamate is excitatory. Muscimol is considered the more potent of the two compounds while ibotenic acid is considered a neurotoxin.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Sertraline (Zoloft) is a prescription medication indicated for the treatment of the major depressive disorder (depression) in adults. This medication is also a common prescription for the treatment of additional mental health disorders and conditions including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), and social anxiety disorder. Commonly called "Zoloft," this medication falls under a category of medications called SSRIs. SSRIs are medications that are believed to restore serotonin in the brain. Depression is believed to be caused by low levels of serotonin. Restoring this hormone in the brain is thought to improve symptoms of depression. ZOLOFT and other antidepressant medicines may cause serious side effects. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any of the following symptoms, or call 911 if there is an emergency. Zoloft is available by prescription only. Sertraline is available under the following different brand names: Zoloft. Sertraline is used to treat depression, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder (social phobia), and a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). This medication may improve your mood, sleep, appetite, and energy level and may help restore your interest in daily living. It may decrease fear, anxiety, unwanted thoughts, and the number of panic attacks. Sertraline is known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain. Zoloft (sertraline) is a good and safe antidepressant that is also used to treat other psychiatric disorders such as panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. Zoloft is an antidepressant that belongs to a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which works by balancing serotonin levels in the brain and nerves. Zoloft is used to treat some types of depression, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), social anxiety disorder (SAD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder (PD), and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The active ingredient of Zoloft is sertraline, which is also the generic version of Zoloft. A generic drug is considered to be as safe and effective as the original drug. And generics tend to cost less than brand-name drugs. Sertraline is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (bothersome thoughts that won't go away and the need to perform certain actions over and over), panic attacks (sudden, unexpected attacks of extreme fear and worry about these attacks), posttraumatic stress disorder (disturbing psychological symptoms that develop after a frightening experience), and social anxiety disorder (extreme fear of interacting with others or performing in front of others that interferes with normal life). It is also used to relieve the symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder, including mood swings, irritability, bloating, and breast tenderness. Sertraline is in a class of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

This video articulates the gist of the following: The chemical that is responsible for the “high” caused by nutmeg is known as myristicin. This is a compound that occurs naturally in the essential oils of certain plants like parsley, dill, and nutmeg. Myristicin is also found in other spices. It makes up most of the chemical makeup of nutmeg oil and is found in the largest amounts in this spice. In the human body, the breakdown of the compound produces an effect that triggers the sympathetic nervous system. Peyote is yet another well-known plant whose compound, mescaline, acts very similarly to the myristicin in nutmeg. Both mescaline and myristicin affect the central nervous system by enhancing the neurotransmitter norepinephrine. This impact on the CNS will eventually lead to side effects like hallucinations, dizziness, nausea, and much more. The research on nutmeg intoxication is sparse. Yet, there are a handful of studies and case reports on some dangerous side effects of consuming too much myristicin. Some of the first claims of nutmeg intoxication date back to the 1500s. However, it wasn’t until the 19th century that research began to investigate the effects of myristicin from nutmeg on the CNS. In one case report, an 18-year-old female had complained of nausea, dizziness, heart palpitations, and dry mouth, among other symptoms. Although she did not report any hallucinations, she did mention feeling as though she were in a trance-like state. Later findings confirmed that she had consumed almost 50 grams of nutmeg in the form of a milkshake, about 30 minutes before her symptoms began. While nutmeg seems like an easy way to get high, the dominance of myristicin is not something that anyone should take lightly. It’s incredibly potent and dangerous when taken in large amounts. Apart from the short-term effects of nutmeg intoxication, there are many other dangerous risks of consuming too much of the spice. In certain scenarios, toxic doses of myristicin have caused organ failure. In other cases, nutmeg overdose has been linked to death when used in conjunction with other drugs. Small amounts of nutmeg are more than safe to use while cooking, as most recipes only call for ¼-½ teaspoons of nutmeg per recipe. These recipes are also split into multiple portions, rendering the actual exposure to nutmeg as non-threatening. Its hallucinogenic potency comes down to the effects of a volatile compound contained within its flesh. Nutmeg is a seed pulled from the branches of the evergreen Myristica fragrans tree, native to Indonesia’s Spice (Molucca) Islands. Its aril — the tissue surrounding the seed — is used to make the equally mighty spice mace, commonly found in eye-searing pepper spray. Both nutmeg and mace contain myristicin, which can, in turn, be isolated to help produce more potent psychotropic drugs, like MMDA and its more popular, potentially therapeutic analog MDMA. They also contain the compound safrole, which is a known precursor to MDMA.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Kava kava (Piper methysticum) has been used as a ceremonial drink in the Pacific Islands for hundreds of years. Some people report its effects are similar to alcohol. The roots are chewed or ground into a pulp and added to cold water. The resulting thick brew, which has been compared to the social equivalent of wine in France, is offered to guests and dignitaries visiting the Pacific Islands. In addition to its ceremonial uses, kava is best known for its relaxing qualities. Kava is said to elevate mood, well being, and contentment, and produce a feeling of relaxation. Several studies have found that kava may be useful in the treatment of anxiety, insomnia, and related nervous disorders. Kava Kava is an herbal remedy that's made from the roots of Piper methysticum -- a type of plant found in the islands of the Pacific Ocean. Its name literally means “intoxicating pepper.” People who live on Pacific islands like Fiji and Tonga have used it for hundreds of years in social gatherings and traditional medicine. They dry out the roots or crush them into a powder. Then they add water and drink the mixture. Kava kava (“kava” for short) contains substances called kavapyrones. They act much like alcohol on your brain, making you feel calm, relaxed, and happy. The plant is also thought to relieve pain, prevent seizures, and relax muscles. Kava is a beverage or extract made from the Piper methysticum plant. In the South Pacific, it's a popular drink that is used in ceremonies for relaxation. The name "kava" comes from the Polynesian word "awa," which means bitter. Kava affects the brain and other parts of the central nervous system. Chemicals called kavalactones that are found in kava are believed to be responsible for its effects. People commonly use kava for anxiety. It's also used for stress, withdrawal from drugs called benzodiazepines, sleeping problems, and many other purposes, but there is no good scientific evidence to support many of these uses. Kava, also often called kava kava, is is a plant native to the South Pacific islands. Pacific Islanders have used it for hundreds of years as a ceremonial drink to promote a state of relaxation. More recently, kava has received widespread attention for its relaxing and stress-reducing properties. Kava is a tropical evergreen shrub with heart-shaped leaves and woody stems. Its scientific name is Piper methysticum. Pacific cultures traditionally use the kava drink during rituals and social gatherings. To make it, people first grind its roots into a paste. This grinding was traditionally performed by chewing the roots and spitting them out, but now it’s typically done by hand. Kava or kava kava (Piper methysticum: Latin 'pepper' and Latinized Greek 'intoxicating') is a crop of the Pacific Islands. Kava is conspecific with Piper wichmannii, indicating Kava was domesticated from Piper wichmannii (syn. Piper subbullatum). Kava consists of sterile cultivars cloned from its wild ancestor, Piper wichmanii.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Benzofuran compounds, such as 6-APB and 5-APB are similar to ecstasy and amphetamines (like speed). Products sold as ‘Benzo Fury’ usually contain the chemical 6-APB or 5-APB – benzofuran compounds. Little is known about the pharmacological or toxicological differences between the two, if any. The name comes from the benzofuran ring in the chemical structure and should not be confused with benzodiazepines, which are minor tranquillisers. Benzo Fury is a stimulant that can be described as having similar properties to ecstasy and amphetamine. Benzofuran substances were originally researched in the early 1990s as potential antidepressant and therapy-enabling drugs. Benzo Fury is often consumed orally, either by swallowing pills, pellets or capsules, wrapping powder in a cigarette paper (bombing) or by mixing in a soft drink. The powder form can be snorted (although reportedly nasal use can be painful). The effects of Benzo Fury tend to peak within 2-3 hours from an oral dose and then plateau for an average period of 4 hours. Coming down is described by users as gradual but with effects having the potential to last up to 14 hours or more from the initial dose. 6-APB is an empathogenic psychoactive compound of the substituted benzofuran and substituted phenethylamine classes. 6-APB and other compounds are sometimes informally called "Benzofury" in newspaper reports. Benzo fury is a synthetic, or man-made, drug typically made up of the chemical 6-APB or 5-APB. Sometimes referred to as “new psychoactive substances (NPS)” or “designer drugs”, novel substances like benzo fury can be marketed as Internet drugs, research chemicals, or legal highs. Benzo fury is a street term that refers to benzofuran, a type of psychoactive substance that has become more popular in recent years, especially in environments like nightclubs and raves. Benzo fury is a synthetic drug that’s most popular in the U.K. and U.S. Benzofuran compounds, or substances sold as benzo fury, may have additional street names, including white pearl, 6-APB, or 5-APB (these combinations of numbers and letters refer to its chemical compounds). Benzo fury is usually sold in the form of colorful tablets, colored capsules, or white, cream, or brown powder. Each of these forms of benzo fury can be swallowed or crushed and snorted. Benzo Fury (also known as White Pearl) is a street name that can refer to a number of chemical compounds—most often 5-APB or 6-APB—of Benzofuran. Benzofuran is of the amphetamine and phenylethylamine classes, and as such, is a stimulant. Benzo Fury is not to be confused with benzodiazepines, which are depressants and typically induce opposite effects. Benzo Fury usually contains 6–APB, which is not currently classified as a controlled substance at the federal level in the United States. However, it may be considered an analog of amphetamine, which would make its distribution or use prosecutable under the Federal Analog Act. Despite this, Benzo Fury is sometimes abused by club-goers and others for the Ecstasy-like, stimulating effects and euphoria it produces. Benzo Fury is commonly found in tablet or powder form and can be consumed orally or snorted.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Pregabalin (Lyrica) treats pain caused by nerve damage and can be used with other medications to prevent seizures. Pregabalin capsules, oral solution (liquid), and extended-release (long-acting) tablets are used to relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves) that can occur in your arms, hands, fingers, legs, feet, or toes if you have diabetes and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN; the burning, stabbing pain or aches that may last for months or years after an attack of shingles). Pregabalin capsules and oral solution are also used to relieve neuropathic pain that can occur after a spinal cord injury and to treat fibromyalgia (a long-lasting condition that may cause pain, muscle stiffness and tenderness, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep). Pregabalin capsules and oral solution are used along with other medications to treat certain types of seizures in adults and children 1 month of age and older. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body. Pregabalin was originally FDA approved in 2004 as an anti-epileptic drug, also called an anticonvulsant. It works by slowing down impulses in the brain that cause seizures. Pregabalin also affects chemicals in the brain that send pain signals across the nervous system. Pregabalin is used to treat pain caused by fibromyalgia, or nerve pain in people with diabetes (diabetic neuropathy), herpes zoster (post-herpetic neuralgia), or spinal cord injury. Pregabalin is also used with other medications to treat partial-onset seizures in adults and children aged at least 1 month. Pregabalin can cause a severe allergic reaction. Stop taking pregabalin and seek emergency medical help if you have hives or blisters on your skin, trouble breathing, or swelling in your face, mouth, or throat. Pregabalin is used with other medicines to help control partial-onset seizures (convulsions) in the treatment of epilepsy in patients 1 month of age and older. This medicine will not cure epilepsy and will only work to control seizures for as long as you continue to take it. Pregabalin is also used for postherpetic neuralgia (pain that occurs after shingles) and pain caused by nerve damage from diabetes or a spinal cord injury. Pregabalin capsule and oral liquid are also used to treat a condition called fibromyalgia (muscle pain and stiffness). Pregabalin works in the central nervous system (CNS) to control seizures and pain. It is an anticonvulsant and neuropathic pain agent. Pregabalin is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, spinal cord injury, and postherpetic neuralgia. Pregabalin is FDA-approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Pregabalin also has FDA approval as adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures in adults with epilepsy. Off-label uses include generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, insomnia, and chronic pain conditions not otherwise approved by the FDA.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Scopolamine, also known as hyoscine, or Devil's Breath, is a natural or synthetically produced tropane alkaloid and anticholinergic drug that is formally used as a medication for treating motion sickness and postoperative nausea and vomiting. It is also sometimes used before surgery to decrease saliva. There are stories circulating that a chemical known as “Devil's Breath” is making its way around the world, being blown into faces and soaked into business cards to render unsuspecting tourists incapacitated. The result? A “zombie-like” state that leaves the victim with no ability to control their actions, leaving them at risk of having their bank accounts emptied, homes robbed, organs stolen, or raped by a street criminal. Are these sensationalized stories part of an urban legend or a factual crime scene? Devil's Breath is derived from the flower of the “borrachero” shrub, common in the South American country of Colombia. The seeds, when powdered and extracted via a chemical process, contain a chemical similar to scopolamine called “burandanga”. Borrachero has been used for hundreds of years by native South Americans in spiritual rituals. The compound is said to lead to hallucinations, frightening images, and a lack of free will. Amnesia can occur, leaving the victim powerless to recall events or identify perpetrators. According to a 1995 Wall Street Journal article, about half of all emergency room admissions in Bogota, Colombia were for burundanga poisoning. Scopolamine is also present in Jimson Weed (Datura stramonium), a plant found in most of the continental U.S. This street drug is available in prescription form, too. If you suffer from seasickness, maybe you've used scopolamine (Transderm Scop) on your last ocean adventure. The active ingredient is available in a 1 milligram transdermal patch worn behind your ear to help ward off motion sickness or postoperative nausea and vomiting. The medicine slowly absorbs through the skin from a specialized rate-controlling membrane found in the patch. It's worn for three days before being replaced. The low dose and slow absorption helps to prevent severe side effects in most people. Scopolamine transdermal patch is not classified by the DEA as a controlled substance. Immediate “zombie-like” side effects by blowing it into someone's face seems unlikely, from a pharmacologic standpoint. Others have also questioned the reports of robberies taking place when the powder is blown into someone's face or placed on a business card. Locals call it the ‘borrachero’ tree, which means drunk tree. The effects of Hyoscine depend on potency and how much is consumed. Medically speaking it is used as a magical cure for travel sickness and nausea. It can also be used to dry up saliva before surgery and to calm muscle spasms. Used by criminals to aid rape and robbery, Devil’s breath can leave you unconscious for days and if taken in very high doses can also cause death. Apparently there are around 50,000 cases of incidents are year in Colombia recorded, and a lot more that go unrecorded! It’s been used as a date rape and robbery drug in other parts of the world as well, but is most commonly found in Colombia.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Datura is a highly poisonous plant containing the deliriant alkaloids scopolamine and atropine. Anyone consuming the plant (who doesn't die) is transported into a waking nightmare of demonic hallucinations. Datura is a genus of nine species of highly poisonous, vespertine-flowering plants belonging to the nightshade family Solanaceae. They are commonly known as thornapples or jimsonweeds, but are also known as devil's trumpets. Other English common names include moonflower, devil's weed, and hell's bells. The genus Datura, with 9 to 12 known species, occurs widely throughout the temperate and warmer parts of both the Old and New World. The plants produce large white to purple tinged trumpet flowers and spiny round seedpods (thornapple). Daturas have been used as poisons, medicines, and ritual intoxicant agents since time immemorial. Each species has its own characteristic strong narcotic tropane alkaloids (typically scopolamine, atropine, daturine, and stramonine), which also make them among the most dangerous and poisonous plants known. Meteloidine is the principal hallucinogen, but it is only abundantly found in one of two species. Ingestion of even small quantities of any plant parts can cause delirium, frenzy, powerful hallucinations, coma, and passing away. The greatest diversity of species occurs in Central America and Mexico, suggesting this as the origin of the genus, but there is ample evidence that these plants were used culturally both in the New World and in Asia as sacred plants for many millennia (at least 3,000 years). All Datura plants contain a number of alkaloids, especially in the seeds and flowers, that are toxic, narcotic and hallucinogenic. The toxicity depends on the age of the plant and growing conditions, with serious illness or death a possibility from ingestion. They are also poisonous to cattle, horses and sheep. The cultivation of Datura is banned in some states and municipalities. Datura (also known as devil's trumpet, moonflower, jimsonweed, devil's weed, hell's bells, thorn-apple, and many others) is a genus of nine species of poisonous flowering plants belonging to the family Solanaceae. Daturas are known as powerful and dangerous deliriants, used for shamanic and medical purposes, as well as poisons. They contain the potent anticholinergic substances scopolamine, hyoscyamine, and atropine primarily in their seeds and flowers. India has a great wealth of various naturally occurring plant drugs which have great potential pharmacological activities. Datura stramonium (D. stramonium) is one of the widely well known folklore medicinal herbs. The troublesome weed, D. stramonium is a plant with both poisonous and medicinal properties and has been proven to have great pharmacological potential with a great utility and usage in folklore medicine. D. stromonium has been scientifically proven to contain alkaloids, tannins, carbohydrates and proteins. This plant has contributed various pharmacological actions in the scientific field of Indian systems of medicines like analgesic and antiasthmatic activities. The present paper presents an exclusive review work on the ethnomedical, phytochemical, pharmacological activities of this plant.

This video articulates the gist of the following: You may have heard stories of people traveling to foreign destinations to experience taking Ayahuasca, a psychoactive brew. Typically, these anecdotes tend to focus on the immediate effects that take place during an Ayahuasca “trip,” some of which are enlightening, while others are downright distressing. However, scientists have uncovered several long-term health benefits of taking Ayahuasca. This article reviews Ayahuasca, including its negative and positive effects on health. Ayahuasca — also known as the tea, the vine, and la purga — is a brew made from the leaves of the Psychotria viridis shrub along with the stalks of the Banisteriopsis caapi vine, though other plants and ingredients can be added as well. This drink was used for spiritual and religious purposes by ancient Amazonian tribes and is still used as a sacred beverage by some religious communities in Brazil and North America, including the Santo Daime. DMT is a powerful hallucinogenic chemical. However, it has low bioavailability, as it gets rapidly broken down by enzymes called monoamine oxidases (MAOs) in your liver and gastrointestinal tract. For this reason, DMT must be combined with something containing MAO inhibitors (MAOIs), which allow DMT to take effect. Banisteriopsis caapi contains potent MAOIs called β-carbolines, which also have psychoactive effects of their own. Ayahuasca use amongst the indigenous people of the Amazon is a form of traditional medicine and cultural psychiatry. Ayahuasca is a natural psychoactive brew, used in traditional ceremonies in the Amazon basin. Recent research has indicated that ayahuasca is pharmacologically safe and its use may be positively associated with improvements in psychiatric symptoms. The ayahuasca experience has been characterized by profound alterations to one's sense of self and reality, emotional and cognitive processing, and spatiotemporal orientation. Ayahuasca is a hallucinogenic decoction used as a traditional medicine in several Amazonian regions. The ritualistic use of ayahuasca has spread throughout many countries, making it necessary to study its risks and benefits. Ayahuasca remains a fringe psychological medicine, but it’s slowly working its way into the mainstream. Until fairly recently, you had to travel to South America if you wanted to experiment with the plant, but now ayahuasca ceremonies are popping up in the United States and Europe. Indigenous people in countries like Colombia and Peru have been brewing the concoction for thousands of years, mostly for religious or spiritual purposes. It’s considered a medicine, a way to heal internal wounds and reconnect with nature. An Ayahuasca retreat is an opportunity to work closely with an indigenous shaman through a guided journey into another dimension. The natural healing power of ayahuasca and other medicinal plants help ayahuasca retreat participants to reconnect to nature and to their true selves.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Methaqualone is a hypnotic sedative. It was sold under the brand names Quaalude and Sopor among others, which contained 300 mg of methaqualone, and sold as a combination drug under the brand name Mandrax, which contained 250 mg methaqualone and 25 mg diphenhydramine within the same tablet, mostly in Europe. Commercial production of methaqualone was halted in the mid-1980s due to widespread abuse and addictiveness. It is a member of the quinazolinone class. Methaqualone became increasingly popular as a recreational drug and club drug in the late 1960s and 1970s, known variously as "ludes" or "disco biscuits". Methaqualone is a sedative that increases the activity of the GABA receptors in the brain and nervous system, similarly to benzodiazepines and barbiturates. When GABA activity is increased, blood pressure drops and breathing and pulse rates slow, leading to a state of deep relaxation. These properties explain why methaqualone was originally mainly prescribed for insomnia. Methaqualone (brand name Quaalude in the US and Mandrax in the UK) is a central nervous system (CNS) depressant of the quinazolinone class that acts as a sedative and hypnotic. The sedative–hypnotic activity of methaqualone was first noted by researchers in the 1950s and in 1962 methaqualone itself was patented in the US by Wallace and Tiernan. Methaqualone was not recommended for use while pregnant and is in pregnancy category. Methaqualone peaks in the bloodstream within several hours, with a half-life of 20–60 hours. While the salt methaqualone hydrochloride is typically used clinically, methaqualone free-base was also marketed, namely as the methaqualone component of Mandrax, a combination drug which contained 250 mg methaqualone and 25 mg diphenhydramine within the same tablet. Oral dosage forms of methaqualone hydrochloride were manufactured as capsules, whereas oral dosage forms of methaqualone free-base were manufactured as tablets. Despite prior speculation, a 2015 study demonstrates that methaqualone exhibits distinct functional properties at the GABA receptor sites compared with other allosteric modulators, and it mediates these through a different mechanism than the barbiturates and benzodiazepines that it historically has been lumped together with. These distinctions could contribute to the reported differences in the in vivo effects induced by methaqualone and classic CNS depressants. In any case, the multifaceted functionality of methaqualone at GABAA receptors seems to be at the root of its clinical efficacy, as well as the addiction liability and recreational use associated with the drug.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Clonazepam is used alone or in combination with other medications to control certain types of seizures. It is also used to relieve panic attacks (sudden, unexpected attacks of extreme fear and worry about these attacks). Clonazepam is in a class of medications called benzodiazepines. It works by decreasing abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Clonazepam comes as a tablet and an orally disintegrating tablet (tablet that dissolves quickly in the mouth) to take by mouth. It usually is taken one to three times a day with or without food. Take clonazepam at around the same time(s) every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Clonazepam is also used to treat symptoms of akathisia (restlessness and a need for constant movement) that may occur as a side effect of treatment with antipsychotic medications (medications for mental illness) and to treat acute catatonic reactions (state in which a person does not move or speak at all or moves or speaks abnormally). Talk to your doctor about the possible risks of using this medication for your condition. Clonazepam is used to treat certain seizure disorders (including absence seizures or Lennox-Gastaut syndrome) in adults and children. Clonazepam, sold under the brand name Klonopin among others, is a medication used to prevent and treat seizures, panic disorder, anxiety, and the movement disorder known as akathisia.[9] It is a tranquilizer of the benzodiazepine class. Clonazepam, like other benzodiazepines, while being a first-line treatment for acute seizures, is not suitable for the long-term treatment of seizures due to the development of tolerance to the anticonvulsant effects. Clonazepam (trade name Klonopin or Rivotril) is a long-acting psychoactive substance of the benzodiazepine class which produces anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant, amnesic, sedative, depressant and hypnotic effects. It is commonly used and FDA approved for the medical treatment of panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and social anxiety disorder (SAD). Clonazepam has an elimination half-life of 19 – 60 hours, and is generally considered to be a long-acting benzodiazepine. Clonazepam has an intermediate onset of action, with a peak blood level occurring one to four hours after oral administration.

This video articulates the gist of the following: This medication is used to help relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. Tramadol belongs to a class of drugs known as opioid analgesics. It works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain. Tramadol, sold under the brand name Ultram among others, is an opioid pain medication used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain. When taken by mouth in an immediate-release formulation, the onset of pain relief usually begins within an hour. It is also available by injection. It is available in combination with paracetamol (acetaminophen). As is typical of opioids, common side effects include constipation, itchiness, and nausea. Serious side effects may include hallucinations, seizures, increased risk of serotonin syndrome, decreased alertness, and drug addiction. Tramadol (also known as Ultram, Ralivia or Tramal) is a synthetic opioid substance of the phenylpropylamine class that is structurally related to codeine and morphine. It acts as a weak μ-opioid receptor agonist and a reuptake inhibitor of norepinephrine and serotonin. Tramadol was developed in 1962 and launched under the name "Tramal" by the German pharmaceutical company Grünenthal GmbH in 1977. In the mid-1990s, it was approved for use in the United Kingdom and the United States.(+/-)Tramadol, or 2-[(Dimethylamino)methyl]-1-(3-methoxyphenyl)cyclohexanol, is an atypical synthetic opioid. The chemical structure of tramadol consists of two rings that include a cyclohexane ring bonded to a phenyl ring at R1. This phenyl ring is substituted at R3 with a methoxy group (CH3O-). At the same location (R1) the cyclohexane ring is bonded to the phenyl ring, an additional hydroxy group is found. Tramadol features a second substitution on its cyclohexane ring at R2. Here, the ring is bonded to a dimethylamine group connected through a methyl bridge. Tramadol (a schedule IV drug in the US) is used primarily to treat mild to severe pain, both acute and chronic. There is moderate evidence for use as a second-line treatment for fibromyalgia but it is not FDA approved for this use; however, its use is approved for treatment of fibromyalgia as a secondary painkiller by the NHS. Long-term use of high doses of tramadol causes physical dependence and withdrawal syndrome. Tramadol withdrawal typically lasts longer than that of other opioids. Seven days or more of acute withdrawal symptoms can occur as opposed to typically 3 or 4 days for other codeine analogues. Tramadol acts as a serotonin-norephinephrine reuptake inhibitor and can interact with other serotonergic medications (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, triptans, cough and cold medications containing dextromethorphan, herbal products containing St. John’s wort, and medications that inhibit the metabolism of serotonin, such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors) and, in combination, may lead to serotonin syndrome. It may also make some serotonergic antagonist anti-emetic medications (ondansetron) less effective.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Xenon is a chemical element with the symbol Xe and atomic number 54. It is a colorless, dense, odorless noble gas found in Earth's atmosphere in trace amounts.[11] Although generally unreactive, it can undergo a few chemical reactions such as the formation of xenon hexafluoroplatinate, the first noble gas compound to be synthesized. Xenon is a dissociative anesthetic gas. It is similar to nitrous oxide in effects. Recreational use of xenon is rare due to it being expensive and difficult to find. Originally discovered by William Ramsay and Morris Travers in September 1898, shortly after they discovered krypton and neon. It was named after the Greek word for 'Stranger', 'Guest', or 'Foreigner'. It wasn't until 1939, when physician Albert R. Behnke began exploring it's intoxicating effects. xenon (Xe), chemical element, a heavy and extremely rare gas of Group 18 (noble gases) of the periodic table. It was the first noble gas found to form true chemical compounds. More than 4.5 times heavier than air, xenon is colourless, odourless, and tasteless. Pronounced "ZEE-non," this element is a gas primarily used in light manufacturing. Xenon is one of the inert or noble gases and is odorless, colorless, tasteless and chemically non-reactive. While not toxic on its own, its compounds are strong oxidizing agents that are highly toxic. Xenon was discovered by Scottish chemist William Ramsay and English chemist Morris Travers in July 1898 at the University College London. This wasn't their first discovery. The pair already extracted argon, neon and krypton from liquid air. Hamilton Morris once used it. "Hamilton" "Morris" is known for testing Xenon. "Hamilton Morris" is a user of xenon. Hamilton Morris once said that xenon is very euphoric. Xenon is a trace gas found in the Earth's atmosphere to the extent of about one part in 20 million, According to the Los Alamos National Laboratory. This makes it very rare. It is also found in Mars' atmosphere at 0.08 ppm. Xenon creates a blue or lavender glow when subjected to an electrical discharge. Lamps that use xenon illuminate better than conventional lights. For example, stroboscopic lamps, photographic flash lamps, high-intensive arc-lamps for motion picture projection, some lamps used for deep-sea observation, bactericidal lamps, sunbed lamps and high-pressure arc all use this gas. In fact, you probably see xenon lamps on a regular basis. Some vehicle headlights use xenon. If you see headlights that give off a soft blue glow, they are probably made with xenon.

This video articulates the gist of the following: Diazepam is used to treat anxiety, alcohol withdrawal, and seizures. It is also used to relieve muscle spasms and to provide sedation before medical procedures. This medication works by calming the brain and nerves. Diazepam belongs to a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines. Diazepam may increase the risk of serious or life-threatening breathing problems, sedation, or coma if used along with certain medications. Tell your doctor if you are taking or plan to take certain opiate medications for cough such as codeine (in Triacin-C, in Tuzistra XR) or hydrocodone (in Anexsia, in Norco, in Zyfrel) or for pain such as codeine (in Fiorinal), fentanyl (Actiq, Duragesic, Subsys, others), hydromorphone (Dilaudid, Exalgo), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine, Methadose), morphine (Astramorph, Duramorph PF, Kadian), oxycodone (in Oxycet, in Percocet, in Roxicet, others), and tramadol (Conzip, Ultram, in Ultracet). Your doctor may need to change the dosages of your medications and will monitor you carefully. If you take diazepam with any of these medications and you develop any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical care immediately: unusual dizziness, lightheadedness, extreme sleepiness, slowed or difficult breathing, or unresponsiveness. Be sure that your caregiver or family members know which symptoms may be serious so they can call the doctor or emergency medical care if you are unable to seek treatment on your own. Diazepam may be habit forming. Do not take a larger dose, take it more often, or for a longer time than your doctor tells you to. Tell your doctor if you have ever drunk large amounts of alcohol, if you use or have ever used street drugs, or have overused prescription medications. Do not drink alcohol or use street drugs during your treatment. Drinking alcohol or using street drugs during your treatment with diazepam also increases the risk that you will experience these serious, life-threatening side effects. Also tell your doctor if you have or have ever had depression or another mental illness. Valium is a prescription medicine used to treat symptoms of anxiety, muscle spasm, alcohol withdrawal and as a sedative before surgery or to treat seizures. Valium may be used alone or with other medications. Valium (diazepam) is a benzodiazepine derivative. The chemical name of diazepam is 7-chloro-1,3-dihydro-1-methyl-5-phenyl-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin- 2-one. Valium is available for oral administration as tablets containing 2 mg, 5 mg or 10 mg diazepam. In addition to the active ingredient diazepam, each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: anhydrous lactose, corn starch, pregelatinized starch and calcium stearate with the following dyes: 5-mg tablets contain FD&C Yellow No. 6 and D&C Yellow No. 10; 10-mg tablets contain FD&C Blue No. 1. Valium 2-mg tablets contain no dye. You should not use Valium if you are allergic to diazepam or similar medicines (Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, and others), or if you have myasthenia gravis, severe liver disease, narrow-angle glaucoma, or sleep apnea.
