In this episode of The Quiet Crew, you’ll meet the co-technical lead for the prediction and validation of tools for the Quesst mission. For Sriram Rallabhandi, when he isn’t working, his children are his first priority and that includes time spent together solving Rubik's Cubes, teaching them math or playing pickleball. He is part of the crew on a mission to transform aviation as NASA and communities in the U.S. work together to verify that the X-59’s quiet, supersonic design can turn a sonic boom into a sonic thump. This new technology, along with a potential change in regulations, will allow airliners to fly faster over land, cutting passenger travel time in half without disturbing people on the ground.

In the future, the complete picture of air flow will need to be accurately measured in detail, so vehicle designs can minimize the effects of unsteady air. NASA’s Aerosciences Evaluation and Test Capabilities Portfolio Office (AETC) is addressing this challenge. AETC together with industry stakeholders, have developed the Unsteady Pressure-Sensitive Paint System. This system utilizes state of the art technology to measure and visualize unsteady air flows, in near-real time, for wind tunnel vehicle tests. How NASA Uses Gravity and Radio Waves to Study Planets and Moons
💕 Thanks for watching my video 💕
The Deep Space Network, NASA’s international collection of giant radio antennas used to communicate with spacecraft at the Moon and beyond, helps scientists and engineers use gravity and radio science experiments to learn more about our planetary neighborhood.
After reaching a spacecraft reaches its destination, it uses radio antennas to communicate with the Deep Space Network, which in turn transmits radio signals back to the spacecraft. Every spacecraft travels in a predetermined path emitting radio signals as it orbits around its target. Scientists and engineers can infer the spacecraft's location and how fast it's going by measuring changes in the spacecraft's radio signal frequency. This is made possible by the Doppler effect, the same phenomenon that causes a siren to sound different as it travels towards and away from you.
The Doppler phenomenon is observed here when the spacecraft and the Deep Space Network antenna move in relation to each other. Differences between the frequency of radio signals sent by the spacecraft as it orbits and signals received on Earth give us details about the gravitational field of a planetary body. For example, if the gravity is slightly stronger, the spacecraft will accelerate slightly more. If gravity is slightly weaker, the spacecraft will accelerate slightly less. By developing a model of the planetary body's gravitational field, which can be mapped as a gravitational shape, scientists and researchers can deduce information about its internal structure.
The Deep Space Network was developed by and is managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to robotic explorers venturing beyond Earth. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving never-before-seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.
JPL manages the Deep Space Network for the Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Program, based at NASA Headquarters within the Space Operations Mission Directorate.

Hearing The International Space Station - The Easy Way & The Overly Complicated Way
💕 Thanks for watching my video 💕
In this video I'm listening to the amateur (ham) radio repeater on the International Space Station (ISS). This is pretty easy to do with just a $20 radio, and is really quite fun!
I don't often do pure "how-to" videos, since I'm usually filming myself learning a new skill or process and I'm not an expert at most of the stuff I do. However, a bunch of people asked if I could make this simple and understandable, so that's what I've tried to do!
I'm also trying out some slightly more complicated space radio things, such as a directional antenna and an antenna aiming system. These aren't really needed for listening to the ISS, but I'm hoping to use them on some other things like cubesats in the future.
Here are some additional helpful resources:

SpaceX's Starship Interior Design Update
On April 20, Starship achieved a significant milestone thanks to its first test launch, an undeniable feat. This accomplishment has provided SpaceX with valuable data to further develop the Starship for critical future missions, particularly those involving human passengers.
But just a spacecraft that can fly won't mean anything to Elon Musk's goal of colonizing Mars, Starship also requires to have a meticulously planned and designed interior space to cater to extended-duration stays. That's something they've changed!
Nick Cummings, senior director of SpaceX, recently unveiled an exciting revelation about the interior design of the Starship that includes a host of features and amenities guaranteed for an enjoyable trip to any celestial destination.

Mars in 4K - The Ultimate Edition. The best images of Mars in stunning 4k 60fps.
"Mars in 4K: The Ultimate Edition" presents an unprecedented visual exploration of Mars, enriched by the groundbreaking missions of NASA's Mars rovers. This video, with its stunning 4K resolution, offers a journey across the Martian landscape, revealing the planet's beauty and scientific wonders.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few years ago I threw together some Mars images and rendered them in 4k. Back then, I had little editing knowledge. The video went on to get over 60 Million views. It was something that hadn't been done before, and was a case of the right place at the right time. I'm not expecting this video to come close to the view count of the original, but I just wanted to do it justice and give you all something nice to watch. Thank you all so much for your support over the years, and thanks to our patrons for your contributions to the channel. - Nasa. space flights
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The footage, captured directly by NASA's Mars rovers - Spirit, Opportunity, Curiosity, and Perseverance - unveils the red planet's intricate details. These rovers, acting as robotic geologists, have traversed varied terrains, from ancient lake beds to towering mountains, uncovering Mars' complex geological history.
As viewers enjoy these images, they will notice informal place names assigned by NASA's team, providing context to the Martian features observed. Each rover's unique journey is highlighted, showcasing their contributions to Martian exploration.
Spirit and Opportunity, the trailblazers, revealed the first conclusive evidence of water on Mars, forever changing our understanding of the planet. The Curiosity rover, a mobile laboratory, has been climbing Mount Sharp for over a decade, unveiling layers of Martian history and providing insights into the planet's climatic changes.
Perseverance, the latest rover, accompanied by the Ingenuity helicopter, explores Jezero Crater, an ancient lakebed. This duo represents the pinnacle of Mars exploration technology, with Ingenuity serving as the first aircraft to fly on another planet, scouting and capturing breathtaking aerial images.
The video also delves into the scientific achievements of these missions. Discoveries of past water systems on Mars lead to the tantalizing question of past life on the planet. Each rover's journey, such as Opportunity's 28-mile trek, is a testament to human ingenuity and the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
As viewers immerse themselves in this Martian experience, they are reminded of the significance of these moments in cosmic history. The video encourages viewers to appreciate the monumental strides made in understanding our celestial neighbor and to share this awe-inspiring journey with others.
Finally, the video invites viewers to delve deeper into the ongoing saga of the Perseverance rover and Ingenuity helicopter, encouraging exploration of the full journey these incredible machines have embarked upon on the Martian surface.
