So yeah, I don't know much about all the technical stuff but I feel I'm beginning to learn carrier landings with this bird. Anyhow. For fun.

Headwind: 4 m/s Speed of boat: 27 kts Fuel: 20% And yeah, I can probably get this to work in the future. Now there's ONE big thing about the F-4E not being cool for carriers...and it's the damn FLAPS, man! See on a Navy Phantom you have more flaps to give, I mean we're talking NINETY degrees or close to that! On this Air Farts bird we only get ONE notch of flaps, like 30 bitchin degrees or sumtin. And that makes things a LOT more dicey.

Yeah, the performance...I had to turn down a few settings AND record with Shadowplay. This as neither FRAPS nor Bandicam could handle 60 fps flat. But the bird handles great, I mean this is the first Phantom II you can actually dogfight with! See in P3D you can only do ground attacks. Or rather, I couldn't get all the add-ons working to get anything closely resembling a dogfight there. Anyways, this has finally happened and all us oldschool pilots have TONS of fun ahead of us :)

A handful? YES. Complex? YES again. But great fun once you get past the initial shock and horror :)

Quite a jump forward in technology when compared to the Bf 109. Totally different in the handling, this bird is all about speed (=safety). Is it fun then? Well, not from the beginning - it GETS fun after a while though.

Not bad at all but I still feel the flight model is a bit too wobbly, perhaps to much of a paper plane. But having zero flight experience...what do I know really? Nicely done 109 for DCS. I wish we had some older models like the G-6 or perhaps even the E and F models. But then we'd have to have older versions of the Schpitfeuer as well. Bottom line: The K-4 is an entirely different bird than the old E and F models. ENTIRELY!

I can do short introductions on the other warbirds later on. Or maybe not, who knows?

So going up against a 109, with full wing tanks...that IS stupid. But it's good practice. Always is.

Nothing else changed, just the sound and looks of it. Oh and chucking the 3-round burst - which is for children :)

It's definitely a fun challenge. I'd say I would need a Yak-1 to make things even.

No regrets, it's just plain ASWUM on the highway now 😀

Good fun, but I wonder if I have any chance with it against the Yak-1 or La-5?

As you can see, the cannons are quite effective.

After they merged the Beta with the Regular client, I thought maybe I should check on the performance of the sim. Now the Vegas map has been with us for quite a while, so this is a pretty fair and balanced test. Meaning: They've pretty much ironed out any known bugs and performance killers. Hence I go with the Vegas run.

Sim: P3Dv5 Aircraft: F-100D (by Milviz)

So I've managed to get all my favorite aircraft working in P3Dv5 now. And carriers. And Tac-Pack. And AAA as well (FSCAI). Will follow up with further exploits - the perfromance in P3Dv5 is SO much better than in v4, it's like night and day!

Moderate headwind with gusts, slight turbulence, rain...and landing one of the scariest naval aircraft I've ever "flown": The Vought F-8 Crusader. See this is why I still linger in P3D - they don't have any cool carrier aircraft in DCS. It's all hyper modern, auto-landing shit. Yeah. Music: "Let the Sky Fall" - Ten Years After

So this is the only warbird in which you can abuse the engine and pretty much get away with it. As for dogfights, it's not what I'd recommend. But still...this was great fun.
