.17 Fireball vs. Ground Squirrels
There is a certain sound a .172 projectile makes on impact, when shot out of a centerfire cartridge. Can you hear it? It sounds like... #17Fireball

Mossberg Patriot Predator .243 Win - Full Overview Range Test with Prairie Dog & Coyote Hunt in 4K
The Mossberg Patriot Predator is a budget friendly bolt-action rifle that is designed for predator hunting, varmint control and medium sized game. The Patriot Predator we received from Mossberg is chambered in .243 Winchester, which has been extremely popular for decades, due to its accuracy, low recoil, and flat trajectory. We spent months with this rifle at the range and in the field while hunting. From Prairie Dogs in Wyoming, to Coyotes in Nevada and back to Idaho for Badgers, the rifle we had was put through a rigorous regimen of our varmint hunting escapades!

Overview of the Franklin Armory 22-C1 Binary Trigger
During the 2020 SHOT Show Media Range Day, I got the chance to shoot the newly announced Franklin Armory 22-C1 Binary Trigger for 10/22 platform rifles. It was a BLAST and to me, one of the most exciting products to be announced at the show. As a varmint hunter, who often finds himself in the middle of large populations of colony varmints (ground squirrels), I saw the potential beyond its use in rimfire competition (where allowed), target shooting and plinking, to use while hunting varmints! #FranklinArmory

6MM BR Custom Rifle Build Overview with Hunt Report
Full Article:
https://www.varminter.com/6br-custom-build-hunt-report-and-overview/
As a varmint hunter contemplating a new rifle build, you often run through a gamut of ideas that seem like a great idea, but don’t always end up in the final product. I spent a great deal of time deciding what 6mm cartridge I would pick for my next varmint build. I was sure of certain things. First, it had to fit an action that I owned (Borden Alpine Magnum Medium Length Action) that was looking for a home. Most importantly, it had to be highly accurate, with light recoil. Quality, highly frangible bullets had to be available in the 50 to 70 grain weight range (for smaller to larger varmint hunting). For flat shooting ballistics, I wanted velocity above 3300 fps. Lastly, it had to be a readily available cartridge.
After a great deal of deliberation and weighing all the factors I listed above, I decided that the 6mm BR, with a slow twist barrel, was what I was looking for. This cartridge originally started out in 1978 as the 6mm Remington Bench Rest. In 1996 Norma modified the cartridge throat to accommodate longer, more efficient bullets. The rest is benchrest history.
Every component for this build was carefully considered for the intended purpose.
The Rifle Build:
Borden Alpine Magnum Medium Length Action (M700 footprint)
Krieger M24 Contour 4R - .243” Stainless Steel Barrel
Grayboe Ridgeback Stock Hydrodipped in Kuiu (by Applied Hydrographics)
Grayboe M5 DBM Bottom Metal
Bix N’ Andy Dakota Remington 700 Trigger from Bullet Central
Vortex Razor HD LHT 3-15x42mm in MRAD
Seekins Precision 30mm Scope Rings
MK Machining Single Feed Ramp
Thunderbeast Ultra 9 - 6.5 Caliber Suppressor
Cerakote on Action, Barrel and Scope by Nevada Cerakote

Lithgow LA-101 Overview and Hunt Report - 17HMR Series
Season 21 Premier begins with an article and video on the Lithgow LA-101 Overview and Hunt Report. This is also the first of our “17HMR Series”, where we will give an overview and hunt report on various, available, firearms chambered in the 17HMR. The Lithgow LA-101 is a great rifle to start off this series, because I feel it is one of the best factory produced rifles available right now. Made in Australia by Lithgow Arms, this little rifle has proven to be a workhorse in my stable of varmint hunting rimfire rifles. Lithgow is no stranger to the firearms world. In fact, they have been producing firearms for over 100 years and have a very large following with Aussie shooters.
